Hawks sending John Jenkins, Mike Scott to D-League

The Atlanta Hawks will reportedly assign rookies to Atlanta's D-League affiliate in Bakersfield

Soobum Im-US PRESSWIRE

John Jenkins and Mike Scott will be assigned to the Hawks' D-League affiliate in Bakersfield according to a report by Atlanta Journal-Constitution writer Chris Vivlamore.

Jenkins and Scott have not been able to get consistent minutes and we have previously discussed that a D-League stint would be possible. Jenkins has appeared in four games and is averaging 1.5 points per game. Scott has found his way into five games on the season.

When Danny Ferry came on board as GM the thinking was that the team would invest much more in player development so today's report isn't surprising. Also interesting that the length of stay has not yet been determined. An injury to one of the Hawks rotation players could have Jenkins or Scott headed back in a hurry but otherwise they may be with Bakersfield for some time.

We'll have more on this as soon as the move is officially announced including how you can watch the D-League online.

Update* - Team has confirmed the move via press release:
