Coming off a solid win of the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Atlanta Hawks return to action Wednesday night when they host the Indiana Pacers at Philips Arena. Atlanta defeated the Thunder on Sunday 104-95 without Josh Smith who remained behind in Atlanta with a sore ankle.
Smith's status against the Pacers is unknown but he did take part in practice on Tuesday and Larry Drew was hopeful that he would be able to suit up on Wednesday. Johan Petro also participated in Tuesday's practice and Drew indicated that he could play against the Pacers. Petro had been inactive through the first two games with a sore back.
Indiana comes into tonight's game with a 1-2 record and with a win over Sacramento sandwiched in between losses to Charlotte and San Antonio. The Spurs defeated the Pacers 101-79 on Monday. Indiana is playing without injured small forward Danny Granger who is out with a knee injury that has him sidelined indefinitely.
Al Horford suffered his season ending injury last season against the Pacers when he got tangled with Roy Hibbert while battling for a rebound. Horford finished with 23 points and 12 rebounds in Atlanta's win over the Thunder.
