The Atlanta Hawks will get to work on Friday when they host the Houston Rockets to open the 2012-13 regular season. Atlanta had a busy offseason that included numerous changes. Danny Ferry replaced long time general manager Rick Sund and quickly went to work revamping the roster and the team's salary cap situation.
Atlanta has enjoyed several days since their last preseason game which has given them time to get healthy. Jeff Teague and Zaza Pachulia both missed the last two preseason contests with ankle injuries. However, Larry Drew is expected to have his full roster available except for reserve center Johan Petro who is nursing a sore back.
Houston opened up its season on Wednesday with a 105-96 win over the Detroit Pistons. New acquisition James Harden led the way with 37 points and 12 assists. Slowing him down will be priority one for the Hawks Friday night.
