Former Atlanta Hawks Draft Pick Keith Benson Reportedly Headed To The D-League

Former Atlanta Hawks second-round draft pick Keith Benson will reportedly sign with the NBA Development league according to a report by SB Nation's Scott Shroeder at Ridiculous Upside.

Benson, a second round draft pick of the Atlanta Hawks, was a two-time Summit League Player of the Year while playing for the Oakland Golden Grizzlies in Michigan. Former D-Leaguer Ivan Johnson took the spot that was presumed to be Benson's in training camp, but the 6-foot-11 center will likely be one of the best big men in the D-League as soon as he joins a roster.

Atlanta cut Benson in training camp after being wowed by Johnson's performance. Some of Benson's noted weaknesses during training camp were the need to add strength to be effective in the low post. His length and prowess as a shot blocker make him an intriguing prospect and it will be interesting to follow his progress in the D-League. Benson played in both of the Hawks preseason games, scoring four total points in just under 25 minutes of action.
