Atlanta Dream All-Star forward Angel McCoughtry was named to the 2011 WNBA All-Defensive First team while teammates Sancho Lyttle and Armintie Price earned All-Defensive Second Team honors.
Angel McCoughtry finished third in the league in steals (2.2 spg) and was named to the First Team for the second consecutive season. She was a Second Team selection as a rookie in 2009. Sancho Lyttle earned her second consecutive All-Defensive Second Team selection after leading the WNBA in steals with a career high 2.4 spg average.
Armintie Price was named to the Second-Team for the first time in her career and averaged 1.5 spg this season. Price moved into the starting lineup early this season and provided the Dream with all out effort on the defensive end.

It is curious that Atlanta's defense was what ailed it the most during the 3-9 start. Sancho Lyttle appeared to be the missing piece defensively for the Dream as once she returned from her stint with the Spanish National Team and recovered from a back injury, Atlanta hit its stride and looked more like the team everyone was expecting coming into the season.
