Al Horford led four Dominican Republic players in double figures with 24 points as John Calipari's squad went on to defeat Cuba by a score of 90-60. Horford finished with a game high 24 points as the Dominican Republic set the tone early and cruised home late. The Cuban team is one of the weakest teams in the tournament field having not finished higher than 10th since 1999.

Horford finished with 24 points and 9 rebounds on 12 of 18 shooting. The Dominican Republic jumped out to an 18-8 lead after the first quarter and never really looked back. Also in double figures for the Dominican Republic were Jack Michael Martinez who finished with a double double of 16 points and 10 rebounds. Former Louisville point guard Edgar Sosa finished with 14 while Charlie Villanueva added 11.
Cuba was led by Yoan Haiti who finished with 18 points and eight rebounds. Lisvan Valdez Maza added 15 in the loss. The Dominican Republic held Cuba to just 37 percent shooting with a 47-34 rebounding advantage.
