Atlanta Hawks second round pick Pape Sy made his debut with the Utah Flash in a 99-83 loss to the Bakersfield Jam. Sy played close to 25 minutes off the bench for the Flash mostly in the wing positions. He also spent a little bit of time at the point guard position where he initiated the offense. When in the game he drew Lakers second round pick Devin Ebanks.
Offensively Sy struggled from the field going 0-5 (0-2) from three point range. Just like in Summer League he did show a quick first step which leads to being able to get to the free throw line where he was 6-8. Sy added three assists, three rebounds, and one steal.
It was hardly a performance to get extremely excited about but remember that Sy hasn't played in an organized game since the Vegas Summer League. Remember his development will be a long term project and last night was just the beginning.
