Avery Johnson will interview for the Atlanta Hawks’ coaching job on Monday night, a league source told Yahoo! Sports.
From Mark Spears at Yahoo!Sund said the Hawks would extend a qualifying offer to Josh Childress, a restricted free agent who has played in Greece the past two seasons. If Childress wants to return to the NBA, he must opt out of his contract with Olympiakos by July 15 (he reportedly hasn't made up his mind). Extending the one-year, $4.8 million qualifying offer would allow the Hawks to maintain Childress' NBA rights. If Childress doesn't accept the offer but wants to return to the NBA, the Hawks could use him in a sign-and-trade transaction. Sund said he told players during exit interviews that he would consider trades that improve the team. "I'm not a believer in addition by subtraction," he said. "But we need to figure out how we can compete with the teams who are better than us."
Michael Cunningham reports the good news that Sund made a wise decision and has right perspective. All we can ask for at this point. (HT: Hoopinion)"I don’t know what Atlanta is doing on defense. That’s all I can tell you."
Orlando Magic center Marcin Gortat, when asked what he's learned from watching the Atlanta Hawks/Milwaukee Bucks playoff series, as quoted by Andrew Melnick of Howard the Dunk"I felt like they were a little bit cocky," Jennings said Sunday. "They came in like, ‘OK, it’s Milwaukee, we’re up 2-0.’ I mean, that’s just how I felt. I felt like they thought they were just going to come in and just blow us out. I think with the crowd, and the way we came out, it just changed everything."

From Hawks PR Man twitter. Wow, we need perspective when it comes to wins and losses, but not that intense of a perspective. Thankfully everyone is ok.File under "incredible." For players averaging at least 35 minutes a game, Al Horford leads the league in shooting from 16-23 feet at 48%. Guess who is last? Actually don't guess. Just know. Because you already know. Yes, Josh Smith at 28%. In an attempt to kill any positive about Al Horford drilling, Josh attempts 2.9 of these shots a game. Horford 2.2. This sums up something. I am not sure what, but definitely something.
Huge HT to BusBoyIs Back from the Hawksquawk Forum. Stats via the incredible Hoopdata."That really falls on the guys that are running our team," he said. "The guards have the ball in their hands. They control the game, and that's something they have to kind of realize."
Al Horford on the Hawks fourth quarter offensive woes. We pontificate. Ken Sugiura reports. Al Horford speaks truth. In that order.Yes!!! We got it done. Much needed type of win. Go Hawks. Ya!
Al Horford on twitter. I agree. The win was as ugly as they come. The type was one of those 82 that matters just a little bit more.Woodson plans to start rook J Teague at PG, M Bibby at SG tonight vs. NJN. Wants Teague's quicks vs. D Harris
