The Atlanta Hawks look to snap a three-game losing streak Monday night when they head north to face the Boston Celtics. Atlanta has dropped both games since returning from the All-Star break in disappointing fashion losing by 18 at home to Miami and by 19 on the road in Orlando.
The Hawks have had their fair share of distractions since returning from the break. Dennis Schröder was suspended for the Miami game after he was late returning from Germany following the All-Star break. Schröder was then a late scratch from the starting lineup on Saturday in Orlando after he was late for the team bus.
It has been another rocky stretch for Atlanta who have gone 23-24 since starting the season 9-2. They are 10-10 over their last 20 games and are in fifth place in the conference, 2.5 games behind the Toronto Raptors.
The Celtics avoided a three-game losing streak of their own on Sunday with a 104-98 win in Detroit. Isaiah Thomas led the way with 33 points while Jae Crowder added 14.
Atlanta dropped the first meeting between the two teams 103-101 at Philips Arena back in early January. The Hawks erased a 20-point deficit with a furious fourth quarter rally before Thomas hit the game-winner with just two seconds remaining. Boston hit 17 three’s in that game and forced Atlanta to go small to make up the deficit.
