The Atlanta Hawks will take on the New York Knicks on Monday without their starting center. The team announced shortly before tip off that Howard would not play as they will opt to rest him instead.
Howard joins DeAndre Bembry (personal reasons), Mike Muscala (ankle) and Tiago Splitter on Atlanta’s injury report.
Tim Hardaway Jr. will start in place of Howard as the Hawks elect to go with a small starting lineup.
Howard logged a double-double with 16 points and 14 rebounds in 33 minutes of Sunday’s win against the Milwaukee Bucks. He has appeared in 36 games with the Hawks this season and is averaging 13.9 points and 13.3 rebounds.
