So if you're paying attention to the Bledsoe saga in Phoenix, it seems as if the Suns are interested in a sign and trade to send him away. It all boils down to money. I never considered him as an option for the Hawks, but what do you all think about pursuing him? To be honest, I didn't watch many Suns games, but everywhere I read, fans are salivating over this dude. Many feel he has real potential to become a star, keeping in mind he's already pretty good.
Again, I never considered him before because of money and need, but as far as money, no one has given him the max deal he wanted. During this time, his relationship has soured with Phoenix, I'm assuming he'll rather play elsewhere than take the same amount, whatever that is, to play in Phoenix. As far as need, I think Bledsoe is better than Teague right now, but has potential to become even better. Keep in mind that we can't attract stars, therefore we should consider grabbing players on the cusp of stardom, hoping that they pan out. I like Schroeder as much as the next guy, but much of my admiration towards him is because he is a Hawk and I hope he turns into a great player. Either way, if we did bring in Bledsoe, things doesn't change with Dennis as he is only ready for backup minutes at the moment.
I think we should really consider offering Milsap and future picks to Phoenix in a sign and trade for Bledsoe, if we can get him for less than the max contract. I think Phoenix will jump at this since Milsap fits perfectly in their scheme. Teague can then be shopped.
My post is pretty much to garner your opinions of Bledsoe, not so much my trade idea, but I'll go ahead and explain why I think this trade works. I don't believe Teague, nor Milsap, are a part of our future. This is the reason Schroeder and Payne were drafted respectively. We take a step backwards overall this year with the loss of Milsap, but we're still a playoffs team and going forward we still have a team build around the Spurs model, but Bledsoe truly provides star power.
