Weems went to college at Missouri State where he was the MVC Player of the Year in 2011. He went undrafted in the 2012 NBA Draft and went to summer league with the Golden State Warriors where he appeared in one game in Vegas. Weems spent the 2012-13 season playing for Telekom Bonn in Germany where he averaged 12.8 points and 4.8 rebounds on 46 percent shooting.
Weems is listed at 6-6 and 223 pounds and played mostly power forward while at Missouri State. He projects as a small forward in the NBA and has a chance to impress the Hawks who currently are in need on the wing.
