Sir Foster kills it on the organ for Hawks fans, but who is he? (UPDATED!)

Sir Foster

Atlanta Hawks fans have been treated to the live in house music of Sir Foster, who bangs away game night standards and modern day hits on his organ to pump crowds up, so Peachtree Hoops wanted to get to know him better.

The following is a sponsored post for Slacker Radio

We reached out to Sir Foster on Twitter, where Foster can be found at, appropriately enough, @HawksOrganist.

We wanted to ask a few basic questions so we would better understand what he does and goes through as he plays through the night at Hawks games, with the intent to pump the crowd.

Unfortunately, I didn't the questions to Sir Foster in time for the deadline of this post, so I'll print the questions here and we can imagine the amazing responses just as we are transported to another place and time during Hawks games, where a playing of Wasted by Gucci Mane Feat Plies can lift us to clap our hands and cheer.

UPDATED! SIR FOSTER SPEAKS!

1. How long have you been doing this at Hawks games?

I just completed my fourth season and I still have to pinch myself at some poing during every game. I never could have imagined that I'd be in the position that I'm in; with a job that combines two of my passions and allows me to explore them both! It never gets old and I'm always excited to do it.

2. How did you and the Hawks arrive at this arrangement?

My entire life has been about being in the right place at the right time, and this situation was no different. I found out about this job through a post on craigslist. The opportunity of a lifetime arrived out of the blue! I am thankful that I was able to take advantage of the opportunity when it presented itself.

3. How do you come up with the arrangements for the popular songs you play at the games?

It never happens the same way twice. Sometimes I'll listen to the radio on the way to a game to get some ideas, but most of the time I decide what I'll play when I get to the arena. I try to approach the game as if it were a Broadway play and I am the orchestra scoring the action. Letting the mood of the game dictate what I play allows the music to always be timely, and it allows me to really accentuate what's happening on the floor.

4. Any complaints about some of the selections?

I can honestly say that I've never had a complaint. My goal is to make the games feel traditional while sounding new. The organ itself is traditional, but always playing the most current songs is a complete contrast to what people are used to hearing at a basketball game! I enjoy pushing the envelope, and people tell me that my playing helps to make their game day experience fun and unique, which always makes me feel good.

5. How much do you try to stay current and how hard is it to do so, if you do?

I really don't try hard at all! It's just who I am. As a fan of music, I am always excited when I discover new hot songs and artists. It is only natural then for me to want to incorporate what I'm listening to into my playing repertoire.

6. Do you get any requests from the players as to music they want to hear?

Yes, and it's always good to know that they're listening to me. One of the assistant coaches used to always request Snoop Dogg! They get a kick out of it when I play what they ask for. Sometimes, they don't ask for requests but they tell me that they love what I do. By the way, I also take fan requests at the games. Tweet me at @hawksorganist during gameplay, and I'll play what you ask for. Be sure to tweet back when you hear your song!

Peachtree Hoops thanks Sir Foster and encourages readers to hit him up at his Twitter account during games to request your song!

Here is an example of how Sir Foster does it -- Enjoy!
