Chris Paul is Angry with the LA Clippers

ESPN's Chris Broussard is reporting that Chris Paul is angry with the LA Clippers for apparently using him as the reason for Vinny Del Negro's firing this off season. Paul is saying that he had nothing to do with Vinny's firing

"He's angry right now and his anger is directed toward the Clippers organization," the source said. "Chris is a man of principle and if he feels like you've gone against his principles, it will affect how he feels about you. He's very agitated that his name has been put out there as the reason for Vinny's firing. He had nothing to do with it."

I can't put my finger on Chris Paul sometimes. He always comes across as a good guy to the public, but there have been a lot of things that have been whispered behind the scenes that make him come across as a diva behind closed doors with a false public facade.

We will never know if he actually had anything to do with the Vinny Del Negro firing. I wouldn't put it past the poorly run Clippers to put this out there because they just canned the most successful single season coach in the history of their franchise. Now, the Clippers are apparently talking with Chris Paul favorite Byron Scott about their coaching job.

Either way, this clearly opens up the potential of Chris Paul coming to Atlanta even more than it already was. Is he mad enough at the Clippers to turn down more money from them than he could get anywhere else?

Plus, the Clippers can offer him a five-year, $108 million deal, $28 million more than any other club. But the source said he would not put it past Paul to turn down more money if he feels strongly that he's been slighted.

If Paul considers leaving the Clippers, the Atlanta Hawks would be a potential landing spot. Paul always has been fond of the city of Atlanta, and the Hawks have the cap room to sign both Paul and Dwight Howard, a Lakers free agent, to lucrative contracts. Paul and Howard have spoken in the past about joining forces, but once Paul was traded to the Clippers in December 2011 and Howard was moved to the Lakers last summer, the duo figured that possibility was dead.

Howard, an Atlanta native, has been lukewarm at best about the idea of playing in his hometown. But the possibility of playing with Paul almost would certainly get him to rethink his position.
