Anthony Tolliver didn't even play in the first half but hit a three, came up with a big steal and grabbed a key offensive rebound in the decisive fourth quarter. His steal of an errant Monta Ellis pass in the fourth quarter set up Dahntay Jones' go ahead free throw with just 22 seconds remaining. Jones made the first and missed the second but there was Tolliver to secure the offensive board. Al Horford eventually put the Hawks up three with a pair of free throws and Ellis missed a tying attempt before Jeff Teague sealed the game at the line.
Jones also played a big part finishing with eight points on 3-4 shooting. He went just 1-4 from the free throw line but it was fitting that his one make was the one that put the Hawks ahead for good. Jones drew Ellis defensively on the game tying attempt after Ellis had gotten rolling earlier in the fourth.
Atlanta also got key minutes off the bench from Johan Petro who got the call as the first big off the bench and finished with three points and five rebounds in just under 19 minutes of action. With Ivan Johnson slowed due to back spasms, Petro answered the call well defensively.
Shelvin Mack didn't appear in the game until the fourth quarter when Devin Harris headed to the bench with a foot injury. Mack came in and scored two points while handing out two assists including a pretty lob to Horford.
Atlanta's big guns did a lot of the heavy lifting but it was bench contributions that might have sealed the deal on Sunday.
