Al Horford scheduled for surgery on Tuesday

A report by Yahoo's Adrian Wojnarowski says that injured Hawks center Al Horford is scheduled to have surgery on his torn pectoral muscle on Tuesday.

Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski reports that Al Horford will have surgery to repair his torn pectoral muscle on Tuesday in Atlanta and will likely miss the remainder of the season.

Typical recovery time for a torn pectoral is around four months. Horford returned during the playoffs in 2012 but was hesitant and might not go down the same road this time. NBA.com's David Aldridge reported earlier that Horford probably would not be able to return this season.

The Hawks have yet to announce anything regarding Horford's timetable or surgery date. Mike Budenholzer was asked before Saturday's game for an update on Horford and he said that nothing had been determined. In this situation the sooner the better for Horford's surgery so that he can get started on the recovery process.

Update

The AJC's Chris Vivlamore cites a team source that confirms the report of surgery for Horford on Tuesday and that he is out for the remainder of the season including the playoffs.
