Pero Antic hit one of the most amazing shots of the young season with a running three-pointer from the corner on a broken play that tied the game and eventually sent it to overtime. Antic missed his first six shots and all four of his three-pointers to that point.
Here is a look at the play (video courtesy of NBAHighlightsDaily)
"That was not one of the options, said Hawks head coach Mike Budenholzer. They defended everything extremely well. Credit to them. That's just one of those things in basketball - sometimes you get a lucky bounce and you hit a lucky shot. Pero's a heck of a player. He's a heck of a shot maker. He does some unique things. But I think ... we were fortunate."
Antic's teammates were all laughs about the shot following the game. "People don't know but Pero practices that shot all the time, said Mike Scott. I just couldn't believe he did that. It was a crazy shot. It should be on the Top 10."
Lou Williams added "He gets a lot of criticism (in practice) for that shot too. We (teammates) really criticize him about that shot. I told him I apologize tonight. I won't bother him ever again about it."
"I just let it go, said Antic on the game-tying shot. Its good to win these kind of games because it is going to lift the team up. We miss Al so much but we are going to try to cover it."
Antic is going to see an increase in playing time with Al Horford out. He played just over 22 minutes on Saturday and despite his poor shooting he finished with four rebounds and seven assists.
The Hawks can live with his shooting as long as he keeps making the ones that matter the most.
