John Jenkins and Dennis Schröder turned in solid performances but the Bakersfield Jam fell to the Santa Cruz Warriors 111-103 at home.
Jenkins got a number of opportunities going 10-23 from the field but was 0-5 from three-point range. He was 8-10 from the free throw line and also finished with six rebounds, three assists and four steals. Schröder logged a double-double with 15 points and 11 assists while going 7-12 from the field. Schröder finished with just two turnovers and it is nice to see a big assist game from him.
Bakersfield jumped out to a quick start leading the Warriors 36-25 at the end of one. Santa Cruz then outscored Bakersfield by 21 points over the next two quarters to take control of the game as the Jam's offense sputtered. Schröder and Jenkins both played well down the stretch but it wasn't enough to complete a comeback.
James Nunnally added 24 points for the Jam while Mac Koshwal added 12. Cameron Jones and Seth Curry led the Warriors with 25 points each.
The two teams will meet in a rematch on Thursday.
