Celtics vs. Hawks Final Score: Fourth Quarter Dooms Hawks to Defeat

Kevin Liles-USA TODAY Sports

22 percent shooting by the home team leads to a big comeback by the Boston Celtics, 94-87.

After playing with fire late in the game in Detroit, the Atlanta Hawks finally fell victim to a poor fourth quarter, shooting an abysmal 5-23 in a fourth quarter that saw the Boston Celtics come back from a 10-point deficit entering the final quarter and leading to the eventual 94-87 upset of the Hawks in Philips Arena Saturday night.

It wasn't as if the Hawks spent the quarter taking bad shots, it was just that none of them went in, as Al Horford, Paul Millsap and Jeff Teague combined for a 2-10 quarter, with both coming on Horford baskets.

The Celtics were led by a solid frontcourt effort, enabled by the penetrating playmaking of former Hawk Jordan Crawford. Crawford plays out-of-control at times, but his lane penetration consistently created scoring ops for the C's, evidenced by his 10 assists on the night.

The Hawks had won five of their last seven games prior to facing the Celtics, who had been beaten by the Pacers the night before as the Hawks were beating the Pistons.

Against Detroit, the Hawks let the Pistons hang around and needed a game-changing Jeff Teague block to finally put away their hosts, but there was no such momentum shift for the Birds Saturday night.

The Hawks lost despite the Celtics 17 turnovers to the Hawks' eight, in large part due to a large free throw discrepancy of 24-31 for the Celtics against a 10-12 night for the home team.

Kyle Korver extended his three-point game streak to 87, leaving him two behind Dana Barros all-time and on track to break the record November 29th, at home, against the Dallas MavericksThe Hawks host the Orlando Magic next on the 26th of November.
