Mike Budenholzer gets his first win as the Atlanta Hawks take down the Toronto Raptors 102-95.

The Atlanta Hawks grab their first win of the 2013-14 season as they knock off the Toronto Raptors 102-95 at Philips Arena.

The Hawks took control of the game in the second quarter closing the half with a big 13-2 run to lead 49-39. Atlanta extended the lead to as many as 18 points in the third quarter. Toronto didn't go away quietly thanks to an offensive explosion from DeMar DeRozan. However, the Hawks got big plays from Paul Millsap and Jeff Teague down the stretch to preserve the victory.

Al Horford led the way for the Hawks with 22 points and 16 rebounds. Kyle Korver hit 5-of-8 three-point attempts and finished with 17. Jeff Teague logged a double-double of his own with 17 points, 12 assists to go with just one turnover. Paul Millsap scored 12 of his 15 points in the second half.

Toronto was led by DeRozan who exploded for 31 points on 14-of-23 shooting. Kyle Lowry added 16 while Rudy Gay added 14 but was just 6-for-23 from the field.

Coming into the game, Mike Budenholzer stated that his team's transition defense must improve from their season opening loss in Dallas. The Hawks responded by holding Toronto to just eight fast break points in the game.
