The Dominican Republic failed to earn a big to the Olympics on Saturday when they lost to Lithuania 109-83. They will have one last chance to claim the final berth on Sunday when they take on Nigeria.
Lithuania jumped out to a 21-16 lead in the first quarter and extended it to 52-36 at halftime. The Dominicans have made a habit out of big second half comebacks in the tournament but it wasn't happening against the powerful Lithuania team.
Jack Michael Martinez led the Dominican Republic with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Al Horford had his second straight tough shooting game finishing with 12 points and four rebounds. Francisco Garcia added 11 points in the loss.
Jonas Maciulis led Lithuania with 19 points. Jonas Valanciunas added 17 and Linas Kleiza chipped in 13. Lithuania connected on 63 percent of its shots from the field while holding the Dominican Republic to just 38 percent shooting.
