Now, the reasoning is that there are a lot of rumors that the Lakers want Pau Gasol gone because of his "soft" label (unfairly I think since he was a big part of them winning two championships but these are the over-reactionary Lakers). They may feel confident in their ability to get Josh to play at an All-Star Level alongside Kobe and Andrew Bynum, as well as getting a backup center. From our perspective, we get a guy who can play center in a frontcourt with Al Horford and he's under contract for two more years, albeit at the price of about $19M a year. Though our cap would consist of Joe, Al, and Pau making almost $52M by their selves the next two years (plus throw in Marvin's $8M number), Pau has a higher basketball IQ than does Josh and brings championship pedigree.
