2012 NBA Rookie-Sophomore Game Preview And Game Thread
No the Atlanta Hawks aren't represented and maybe they should be (Ivan Johnson) but that doesn't stop us from taking in the festivities from All-Star Weekend. Up first is the Rookie-Sophomore game that got a format revamp this season. The game is still made up of first or second-year NBA players but the teams were selected by TNT NBA personalities Charles Barkley and Shaquille O'Neal in an old-school playground pickup game format.
Here are a look at the rosters:
Team Chuck
John Wall
Kyrie Irving
DeMarcus Cousins
Paul George
Derrick Williams
MarShon Brooks
Gordon Hayward
Tiago Splitter
Kawhi Leonard
Evan Turner
Team Shaq
Blake Griffin
Jeremy Lin
Ricky Rubio
Greg Monroe
Markieff Morris
Kemba Walker
Landry Fields
Norris Cole
Brandon Knight
Tristan Thompson
Not a lot of news worthy hype leading up to the game but Washington Wizards point guard John Wall was a little miffed at being selected 12th by Team Chuck.
It's a joke to me," said Wall, who is averaging 16.9 points and 7.5 assists in his second season. "If they think there are 11 guys better than me, then that's their decision. But I know what I think in my mind and all I can do is go out there and play basketball the way I know how to play."

Been around JaVale McGee and Andray Blatche too long
Do not anger Ivan Johnson, or he'll have to go Kermit Washington on your ass
Jeez I couldve picked a better teams than chuck
Ivan Johnson doesn't cut his grass, he stares at it and dares it to grow.......
actually I'm going with Chuck
for this reason – Blake isn’t playing in this game. So, you already lost a player there.

didnt know that
changing my evaluation now
Ivan Johnson doesn't cut his grass, he stares at it and dares it to grow.......
yeah
he’ll be there, but Blake is starting on Sunday. no way he’s playing for long in the rising stars game. Or at least, I’d cry bloody murder if I’m the Clippers if he saw more than 5 minutes in that game. Give ‘em two alley oops and he’s bench cheerleader.

Dammit! I have to change all my bets!
Wait…no I don’t. Wall + Cousins = disaster. I’ll take Lin/Rubio all day.

I think Chuck’s team has better balance while Shaq’s has marketing sizzle. In a series or over a season I’d take Chuck’s team for sure. 1 night only could be different with either team winning. This night I think the pissed off John Wall tips the scales in an exhibition game so Team Chuck it is.
Shaq's team has a few players who can put the ball in the hole like Kemba Walker
and the distributors to get them the ball in Rubio and Lin. In a game where defense isn’t a big priority I like Shaq’s side.

shaq got monroe
Ill take that team just for him

His IQ was supposed to be off the charts because of limited physical ability and shooting but his skills disappeared.
sg Jeff Teague + sg Joe Johnson + sf Josh Smith
+ uberscrub Marvin Williams + scrub Zaza Pachulia

* {#40 Pick PF Jon Leuer is better than Marvin Williams and Hinrich cost us the pick}
*2012 NBA Draft: Hawks draft SF/PF/C Renardo Sidney
Kirk Hinrich is the new Mike Bibby.

Are you talking about Monroe?
He’s more skilled than Hibbert

If Ivan got picked
Who’s team would he been on?
by kross24 on Feb 24, 2012 8:18 PM EST via mobile reply actions
I reckon Chuck would've taken him
1. Because Bakley likes his hustle and fight
2. He’d need someone to get in DeMarcus Cousins’ face when he started to complain

I love that they still are trying to make it seem like Lin is from another country.
Yet Rubio actually is.

I do love Hayward's game
Don’t think he’ll blossom into enough of a high usage star to be a repeat All-Star, more of a complemenary piece

Most of these guys playing
have looked impressive against the Hawks. Splitter, Morris, Cole, Fields, Brooks, Irving

How did Lin play less minutes than Blake?
Why am I caring about this at all?

Kerr played Rubio+Lin (2 PGs) and they couldn't play together. Sound familiar?
