Tracy McGrady, Hawks Moving On Following Outburst
Atlanta Hawks forward Tracy McGrady reportedly sat down with head coach Larry Drew and general manager Rick Sund about his recent public comments regarding his playing time with both sides emerging from the meeting stating that they were ready to move on.
McGrady was angry after Saturday's loss in Portland in which he played just over four minutes in the first half and never returned to the floor. On his meeting with Drew and Sund, McGrady had this to say:
"We talked. Players get frustrated. I was frustrated. We talked and ironed things out. Now, we move on."
With Marvin Williams out of the Atlanta lineup on Monday due to a personal matter it was Willie Green who drew the starting assignment and not McGrady who logged 21 minutes of playing time against the Bulls.

Is it unusual for a gm to travel with the team?

I dont know? Is it. I was asking about a player to coach meeting. That seems unusual.

Despite the missed FTs, he had a good game yesterday.
Good sign.

It was ok
but it certainly wasn’t good enough for him to prove that he deserved more minutes, but it was a step up..

His complaint seems valid
He complained publicly that Larry Drew wasn’t communicating with him about his minutes. He got a meeting out of it and an explanation. I would have thought that Drew would have already been communicating with a veteran player but evidently not because if he had it would have not gotten to this point. He still might have complained about his role, but not that the coach won’t tell him what his role is.
