NBA GameChanger: Jeff Teague Is Key For Atlanta Hawks

Star-divide

Peachtree Hoops is participating in the Playstation Vita GameChanger series where we select one player from the Atlanta Hawks to spotlight as a game changer. Jeff Teague was the x-factor coming into this season and returns to Chicago on Monday where he burst onto the scene during last season's playoffs. Teague was inserted into the starting lineup in that series due to an injury to Kirk Hinrich and held his own in his matchup with MVP Derrick Rose.

That performance helped Teague earn a spot in the starting lineup this season where he has done nothing to disappoint. So far this season, Teague has started all 31 games for the Hawks and is averaging 12.2 points and 4.7 assists while shooting 43 percent from the field and 46 percent from three-point range.

Teague has become a key piece for the Hawks providing a steady mix of speed and quickness at the point guard position that the team hasn't had since the days of Mookie Blaylock. In his first year as a starter, Teague has experienced some ups and downs along the way but when he has played well the Hawks have been much harder to beat.

On Monday afternoon, Teague will be looking to bounce back from a sub par game in which he scored five points on 1-10 shooting. Against the Bulls, Atlanta will need Teague to bounce back in a big way especially if Derrick Rose is able to return to the Chicago starting lineup which would set up a playoff rematch between the two young guards.

Id really

Like to see smith and teague become that complementary guard forward combo that most other teams seem to have.

They are more supplementary... but "most" other teams have a complementary guard forward combo? teams such as?

sf Josh Smith + PF Jon Leuer/PF Ryan Anderson/Kevin Love/Dirk Nowitzki > tweener Josh Smith + tweener Marvin Williams

It's a big problem

And part of the reason why Teague misses so many shots at the rim. Without a dropoff pass, he gets stuck a lot of times and has to throw something up.
Since we aren’t cutting to the hoop, we can’t be bothered to get an offensive rebound either.

Very true

Do you think we make all our jumpers in practice, so we don’t have to try any other options? Is it like that movie with Tobey Maguire where nobody can miss a shot, then when it comes game time Reese Witherspoon gets all slutty and our world is thrown out of whack?

"Pleasantville"

Reese Witherspoon’s genitalia saves the day! This is a perfect real-life scenario as well.

Is this some kind of 6 degrees of separation

from Reese Witherspoon’s genitalia?

If the Hawks win it all.........I will shave MY eyebrows.

I'd rather it be ZERO degrees of separation from her genitalia.

Amirite? Amirite?

Is this thing on?

Now, now

It’s not like her genitalia are worth two CIA operatives using millions of dollars of taxpayer money to monitor, just so they can screw with her. Who’d want to watch that?

Braves will be fine. I'm not worried.

Teague has been getting to the rim lately but hasn't found a way to finish

Any chance he’s getting tired legs? He’s already played more minutes this year than he did last year, and the schedule this year is exceptionally frenetic. I’d hate to think it’s the case, but it seems to be at least a possibility.
