Atlanta Hawks head coach Larry Drew was not pleased with this team's defensive effort against the Cavaliers last Friday.

The Atlanta Hawks enjoyed a weekend off but were back on the practice floor Monday. Two days removed hadn't really taken the sting out of the 113-111 loss that the team suffered last Friday against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Larry Drew even went so far to say that the team took a step backwards defensively in the loss.

"In watching our last game, we took a step back defensively," Drew said. "We'll go watch film ... because I want these guys to really see how bad we were defensively."

The Hawks have been a surprisingly good defensive team this season and have only allowed 100+ points three times in the first 14 games. The 113 points surrendered on Friday were a season high topping the 109 given up to the Houston Rockets in the season opener. On that note, Drew is hoping to get things worked out quickly and before Wednesday's game against the Denver Nuggets.

"From the standpoint of everything that we put in at the very beginning of training camp it just seems like we reverted back to old habits. It was just one game but I want to catch it as early as I can so they can clearly see the positioning, where we were and why we had so many defensive breakdowns our last game. The whole idea is to catch it and try to correct it as quickly as I can."

Currently the Hawks have the NBA's sixth best scoring defense allowing opponents 93.5 points per contest.
