Halftime Report: Warriors dominating Hawks at the half 62-49

The Hawks got off to a good start and finished the first quarter tied at 26, but the Warriors offense took over in the second quarter scoring 36 points and they finished the half shooting 54.3% from the field and an incredible 8-of-12 (66.7%) from three. The Hawks offense that was shooting at a respectable 42.9% in the first quarter went flat in the second quarter shooting just 9-of-25 (36%) from the field and 0-of-5 from three. The Warriors had five players in double figures including a 13 point, nine assist, five rebound performance from Stephen Curry. Harrison Barnes and Carl Landry each went 5-for-7 from the field for 12 points, while David Lee had 10 points and nine boards as he continues his hot play. The Warriors clearly came out with the intention of redeeming themselves after a poor outing last night against the Magic. Golden State is also beating the Hawks on the glass with a 28-22 advantage. Golden State is 14-1 when they out-rebound their opponents.

Hawks go with small lineup; Morrow out

The Atlanta Hawks will start Jeff Teague, Kyle Korver, DeShawn Stevenson, Josh Smith, and Al Horford tonight against the Golden State Warriors. Anthony Morrow will sit out the game with a sore back. The Warriors have a bigger lineup with Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Harrison Barnes, David Lee, and Festus Ezeli. While the Warriors will have a size advantage, Ezeli is a below average scorer so the matchup with Horford should not produce too many scoring opportunities for the Warriors. The main concern is on the boards, where the Warriors are the top defensive rebounding team in the NBA. David Lee is rebounding the ball at an incredible rate, and his back-up Carl Landry is one of the top offensive rebounding forwards in the league. Smith, Horford, and the rest of the Hawks frontline will have to be very conscious of boxing out in order to limit the Warriors high-powered offense to just one shot attempt per possession. Golden State is playing their seventh game of a long East Coast road trip, and their second game in a back-to-back coming off a disappointing loss to the Magic, so the Hawks will need to bring energy early and often to try and wear down the Warriors in order to avenge their loss in Oakland earlier in the year.
