Hawks vs. Heat score: Atlanta trails 56-54 despite Miami's torrid shooting

The Miami Heat hit 64 percent of their shots in the first half but carry only a 56-54 lead into the break over the Atlanta Hawks. The Hawks have been able to keep things close thanks to their shooting from beyond-the-arc where they are 7-15. DeShawn Stevenson hit four threes in the first half and Josh Smith connected on all three of his attempts from downtown to keep the pressure on Miami.

Smith leads the Hawks with 13 points, three rebounds and four assists. Stevenson added 12 points while Al Horford has 10 points and five rebounds. Louis Williams added seven points off the bench for the Hawks. LeBron James leads all scorers with 16 points on 7-10 shooting. Dwyane Wade added 10 points while Chris Bosh has eight points and three rebounds.

The Hawks began the game with the small lineup but out rebounded the Heat by one in the first half 17-16. Atlanta is also on top in the turnover department forcing the Heat into eight while only committing five themselves.

Hawks vs. Heat: DeShawn Stevenson back in Larry Drew's starting lineup

DeShawn Stevenson sat out Saturday's win over the Memphis Grizzlies but he is back in Larry Drew's starting lineup for tonight's game against the Miami Heat.

Stevenson will be needed to help bring some perimeter defense as the Hawks try to slow down LeBron James and Dwyane Wade. Stevenson hit five threes and scored 15 points in his last outing against the Washington Wizards. Jeff Teague and Devin Harris will start in the backcourt while Al Horford and Josh Smith will join Stevenson in the front court.

The Heat will be missing one of their key players as Udonis Haslem will not be in uniform because he is suffering from the flu. Reshard Lewis is likely to replace him in the starting lineup. Haslem came off the bench for Miami for the first 16 games of the season but has started the past two games. He is averaging 3.8 points and 4.9 rebounds in just over 17 minutes of action per game.
