DeShawn Stevenson is thankful for a fresh start. The 12-year vet is coming off one of his worst seasons as a pro but is looking to get back on track for the Hawks. Atlanta retooled its backcourt considerably in the offseason and one area they appear to be lacking is a strong perimeter defender. That has been Stevenson's calling card for some time and it wouldn't be terribly shocking to see him playing some key crunch time minutes.
Stevenson brings toughness and a vet mentality to the team not to mention some championship experience having won an NBA title with the Mavericks in 2011. Lou Williams was quick to point out to a reporter that Stevenson has a ring which is something that none of his teammates can boast about.
With the roster constructed as is there is a good chance that the Hawks spend a lot of time with a three-guard alignment. Stevenson could figure into the small forward or shooting guard picture and hopefully a fresh start is what is needed to get his shot back on track.
