Kirk To Miss Another Month?

Consider the source, but this would be bad.

Kirk Hinrich apparently is not ahead of schedule to return from surgery to remove a cyst from his shoulder, and will miss about another month, according to Hawks VP Dominique Wilkins.

Color me concerned. We need to rid the team of the Pargo/Green backcourt and get some defense in there.

Am I the only one concerned with this? I know we have been playing very well, but we can't continue with this band-aid on the bench at PG.

I think the ahead/not ahead thing is confusing, considering there was a huge window originally

This was his quote from the AJC Hawks Blog:

Hinrich had his eight-week checkup today. "Good news," Hinrich said. "They are going to let me start doing all of the non-contact stuff with the team. A couple weeks from now, we will see how it goes from there. It’s one of those deals where I’m excited to do some things. Hopefully I can get my conditioning right and keep strengthening. I have some weakness. I need to get stronger before I get out there."

But “couple weeks from now, we will see…” could be consistent with being out close to another month. Both reports I’ve seen today said ahead of schedule, though.

That's about right...

2 weeks of non-contact drills and 2 more weeks of contact drills will determine how healthy he is to start playing. Makes sense to me. At the earliest we could have expected him to be back would have been the last week in January. If he is back in the 1st week of February, its only a week difference.

On the other hand, if it takes him closer to All-Star break to get back on the court, then maybe there is a cause for concern if the Hawks are struggling without him.
