Preview:
The Atlanta Hawks will play their fourth game of their current five-game road trip on Sunday when they take on the New Orleans Hornets. The Hawks came up with a gritty win against the Pistons on Friday when Joe Johnson forced overtime with a three-point dagger with just 1.9 seconds remaining in regulation. Atlanta went on to capture the victory 107-101 in overtime.
New Orleans also came up with a big win on Friday snapping a nine-game losing streak with a 93-67 win over a lifeless Orlando team. Atlanta fans may not want to recall the last time these two teams met. The Hornets came into Philips Arena and pummeled the Hawks 100-59. New Orleans currently holds a three-game winning streak over Atlanta.
The Hawks will be without Al Horford and Jeff Teague is likely to be a game-time decision after injuring his ankle on Friday night. Eric Gordon remains out for the Hornets and center Chris Kaman is unlikely to play since the team has placed him on the trading block and doesn't want to risk an injury.

They clearly have enough talent to sting. One of my favorite all time guards, Jack is playing at an all time high. I hope Teague can play or we are going to hurt as Captain Kirk does not seem in good enough shape yet.

I honestly think the NO-LA-Hou trade scenario would’ve worked out better than this shamozzle. A liilte light on for Houston, but they seemed happy with the move. The biggest winners would’ve been NO imo.

I want a gutsy performance from our "bigs" but Smith is too soft for these guys and Marvin/Ivan too small. Drew might think about going small but watch out for Gustavo Ayon. A 6'10 Mexican Forward-Center who plays like a mix of Big Al and Luis Scola.
He’s got a monster shooting %. And our small frontcourt has not been making plays inside on both ends. Our frontcourt seems to be “chicken soup” for bad teams. And I dont like the matchups.
Landry is a piss poor rebounder and monster scorer. Okafor can make layups and some headsup plays and is a monster rebounder.
We’ll see what Zaza Smith and Marvin can do.

They really suck at the all-star stuff. Although, with risk of injury, and the 1 game per week format, it’s certainly understandable they don’t want anything midseason. It’s better post-Super Bowl though.

I'll say yes, in regards to this season
-he was a saddled with a head coach who probably was chosen by the owners instead of him
-he’s been stuck in a situation that’s forced him to do things like actually sell draft picks
1) He got Tracy McGrady for the vet minimum, which is a steal
2) Vlad Radmanovich was a good signing, even though he’s not playing much right now
3) Not a bad move to keep Collins around, despite his limited usefulness
4) With no cap room, he did manage to fill his roster with guys like Pargo and Green, who aren’t completely worthless.

I’m definitely impressed with everything but the Jason Collins re-signing. Ivan Johnson is a great recovery from the Benson/Sy/whole Bibby-Crawford-1st round pick fiasco. HE’s had as good an offseason as he had a bad last year as a GM.

AFter the one I mentioned, we missed the playoffs for 10 straight years. It killed the franchise. We had a 13 win season.
After the ’Nique trade, we were in the playoffs two more consecutive seasons, and had a 50 win season two years later. We continued to make the playoffs for like 6 years in a row.

it’s kinda true, but the Nique trade ended an era with the greatest player in franchise history and more importantly – ended a true shot at a title. We actually had a team that could have contended for at least the ECF. So, to not get there AND lose a player of Nique’s caliber to me is more devastating than the Steve Smith trade where the trade was necessary – it’s just that the player we got for him was a killer. The fact that we missed the playoffs for 10 years isn’t due to that ONE trade – it’s due to inability of Pete Babcock to do anything in the draft. So, I’m just trying to make sure we all blame the right things.
