Around SBN: Jon Jones Arrested on Suspicion of DUI

The Atlanta Hawks are down a valuable weapon in Al Horford but should still be good enough to make the playoffs.

Well for those that wanted teague to take a bigger roll in the offense.......

no but im still optimistic, if we can just get into the playoffs, hopefully he can be back to play

Making the playoffs!!

I predict the Hawks will finish just about the same position they finished last season (5th). With Al, i was thinking about a top 3 finish. I just hope we can get Al for the playoffs. If we dont face Miami, Bulls or Orlando, I think we can get to the second round of the playoffs without Al.

Last year what did it take? 37 wins out of 82 games to get in.

IDK I’m worried about further injuries.

* Hawks trade {Al Horford + protected 2nd rounder} for {Perimeter F Jon Leuer and C Andrew Bogut}

* Jeff Teague * Joe Johnson* Jon Leuer * Josh Smith * Andrew Bogut *

37? who did?

So Al makes the Hawks overachievers?

Of course they will make the playoffs. A more relevant question would be “can the Hawks compete for a top four seed?” They will definitely make the playoffs.

My thing isn't making the playoffs...

it’s doing something once we get there. Even if Horford makes it back for the first round, how rusty would he be, and how much trouble would the team have integrating him back in to the fold?

I don't see why not!

They still have Joe Johnson and Josh Smith leading the charge. Sure they will miss points in the pivot; however, that’s negotiable considering the fact that Al Horford had started stretching his game to the perimeter. If anything, Pachulia can probably bring some points in the paint.

by Jeffrey Thompson on Jan 13, 2012 8:09 PM EST reply actions

Of course we can

I would be very surprised if we didn’t make the playoffs, but then again, I am not the biggest fan of Al Horford (please don’t kill me). Yeah, he’s got a brutal, and I mean BRUTAL mid-range jumper. Okay. That’s about all I got. He can’t bang down low, like at all. His defense is okay. He’s only been that super clutch guy a couple times (that Clippers game last year was epic, I’ll admit. I was there). I’m not hating on Al, and he certainly deserves his starting spot when he’s healthy, but I’m excited to see what some angry big men can do down low for us for a change. Let’s go Zaza, Ivan, Vlad, and Jason!

I think tonight is a must win for the Hawks.

and I’m not sure they’re going to be able to pull it off.

Damnnnnnnn!!!!! MUST WIN!

We better let the players know, because I’m sure they’re just thinking it is another regular season game out of 66. We better tell them to lay it all on the line tonight because if they don’t win, it’s over!

by BravesFanScout on Jan 14, 2012 1:35 PM EST up reply actions

I know man! It is "foolish to think so"!

I mean shit, if they lose tonight they might as well throw in the towel for the rest of the year! I mean the T-Wolves are legit!!!! They’ve won 4 games and sitting pretty as the 12 seed in the western conference. If the Hawks don’t win tonight I’ll probably just stop watching them the rest of the year, since this is “must win” and everything.

by BravesFanScout on Jan 14, 2012 2:07 PM EST up reply actions

the t-wolves are good

Rubio is now starting for the team, my only question is how good is he with sticking with his man? I havent seen too much of T-wolves but of what I have seen then tend to put him at the 2 for some of the game and have ridinour at the 1. I think we will have an advantage if they think he can stick with rubio. again I could be wrong because I have only seen a couple games this year

by Throw on Jan 14, 2012 2:28 PM EST up reply actions

You are wrong.

Rubio only plays the 2 when Ridnour gets confused. This happens two or three possessions a game.

by LanceArmstrong_LIVESTRONG on Jan 14, 2012 2:31 PM EST up reply actions

IDK how the Hawks will handle Rubio or Ridnour guarding

Joe Johnson. They’ll probably just pass away from that matchup since it will be in the T-wolves favor.

by BravesFanScout on Jan 14, 2012 2:52 PM EST up reply actions

Yeah.

Our Magical Unicorn of a point guard will pass. He will pass to the open man and create easier looks. He will revolutionize the NBA and make the PG position that of a passing position. You wouldn’t know too much about that would you?

Jeff Teague. Ha!

by LanceArmstrong_LIVESTRONG on Jan 14, 2012 3:23 PM EST up reply actions

Well he's done decent against D.Rose in the past.

I’m pretty sure Rubio isn’t as good as D.Rose, but IDK i mean you’re the guy with all the answers. Anyway, I’m not talking about on offense. I’m talking about it might be difficult for a 6’4", 180lb (WHAT? 180 pounds???) guard to defend a 6’7’’, 240lb guard (Joe Johnson).

by BravesFanScout on Jan 14, 2012 3:45 PM EST up reply actions

What happened to Wes Johnson?

assumed we would face large amounts of Rubio-Wes-Williams-Love-Milicic

They’ve been playing Rubio and Ridinour together so one of them is gonna have to guard Joe unless they want to let one I then guard Marvin

by BravesFanScout on Jan 14, 2012 5:10 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

thanks for clearing that up Mr. Scout

Marvin should come off the bench to match Wes Johnson and the raw Derrick Williams imo. Or maybe he can help guard Love… lol I doubt it.

Not really.

This is a barometer game for the Hawks post injury. If they lose to the Wolves, which they will, then it means they will finish around .500.

Tonight you find out how many balls you get in the lottery.

Are we getting trolled by a Wolves fan?

Is this what it has come to?

Oh okay!

Like I said man, they better let the Hawks know that their season depends on tonight. It doesn’t matter than Marvin and McGrady may still be out or that Hinrich won’t be playing. It all hinges on the guys on the floor laying it on the line tonight because it is now or never. Looking at some of the comments you’ve made on the T-Wolves blog it seems like people really respect your comments and take you seriously, so we better tell the team.

Tonight the Hawks will find out if they add another win to the win column and play the next game on Monday night and the games after that. Just a huge guess, and i’m going against your strong beliefs ( I KNOW CRAZY), but I think the Hawks win by double figures and still make the playoffs and the T-Wolves will be getting another high draft pick.

or so he says

Hopefully he becomes our new 6th man of the year and does not complain like last time about benchings.

We will get to the playoffs and be fine I would actually be more concerned with the health of T-Mac, and Marvin…..It would’ve been nice to see him matchup against Love

Outside of halfcourt plays? Not many. Offense that stations Smith at the high post is fundamentally flawed in my opinion.

I want more 2 man PnR. 3 on one side and JJ + Josh to the other. Joe or Jeff operates the PnR and passes to Smith who dunks on center or draws foul.

Or clear out for Joe and Jeff 2 guards run the Pick and pop for 3.
