While watching these recent games, I came to realize the effect of Mike BIbby's absence had on the Hawks. The team seemed revitalized, and we also got to see a little light from Teague. Here's my argument with Teague. He needs to play more. He may not be a starter, but he needs adequate playing time, in order to become a starter. He came into the league as a scorer, but all of that has vanished. While seeing him play, he has become purely a defensive minded player. He should be playing without a conscience, which would ultimately develop him into a better player. Besides from that, the main thing the hawks need to do is run the offense through Smith and Horford. It's a common understanding that a team should run the offense inside out, but the hawks are not doing that. I believe that both Horford and smith should take more shots than joe johnson. Joe johnson is the most effective when he is not being double teamed, where he average 25 a couple seasons back, until he got injured and started to get double teamed. Joe Johnson is not aggressive enough to beat a double team, so make horford and smith carry the offensive load to make it easier on joe johnson. I mean... Horford shoots around 50 percent... let him score more and have a possible lower percentage. He may have problems with bigger centers, but he also has the speed advantage, which is complimented by his jumper. He just needs to have a left side post move.. he always goes right.. Defensively, horford will be fine because horford does not have to be so focused on help defense without bibby on the court. Also, even if horford simply cannot physically guard his opponent, he has one of the best help defenders on his side, Josh Smith. Joe Johnson doesn't have to chase around a much faster pg anymore. One thing joe needs to do however, is that he needs to post up with a purpose... I've seen him post up so many times without doing anything with it.. Recently i've seen him do an aggressive move, but that needs to come way more often. He posts up then makes a weak move, or he gets double teamed and backs out and passes it towards the end of the shot cock, which forces a rushed bad shot. He needs to beat the double team, like spin away from it.. of be more aggressive from the start. Being aggressive can beat the double team, or he can force a faster double team where he can pass it out and the hawks can just move the ball to find an open man, which works because there will be time left on the shot clock. Sometimes the hawks just need to score faster... They hold on the the ball a lot... very frustrating. However, the defense does seem to getting better. The hawks however should've traded jamal instead of jordan. May be i'm wrong, but Jordan seems like he can pretty much do the same things as jamal but worse.. However, he's young and has more potential.. Also, the hawks should've never even signed joe.. We could've waited one more year for free agency and drafted a good player as well as rebuild through horford and smith. One thing that can't happen though is the aquisition of a true center. Of course that is ideal, but... quite frankly a true center is so rare these days... To the point where dwight howard is considered the best center... what could he have done against shaq, olajuwon, robinson... in the past.. howard would be a pf... unless he had the skills enough to be a scoring center, so i don't think hawks fans should keep asking for a center... If a team has a great center, they wouldn't give them up for anything. Also another possibility... Why don't the hawks try to trade for ricky rubio? he's forgotten about, but i'm sure they'll consider trading if a good enough deal is sent. I mean.. he's not even playing so may be the hawks could get a steal.. The hawks however should've tried to get perkins.. they should've tried harder to get harris.. i doubt they even thought about getting williams... i mean, may be we'd have to give up a lot, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't even try... I like kirk, but this trade deadline.. the hawks settled.. for a lot less than what could've happened..
