Turbulent Flight for Hawks in the Month of February
If the playoffs were to start today, the Hawks would be playing the Orlando Magic, the same team swept them last year. Fans in Atlanta will certainly not want history to repeat itself. Unfortunately despite pulling off an coup acquiring Kirk Hinrich, they still lack the interior presence to contain Dwight Howard defensively. Hilton Armstrong gives the Hawks six more fouls to use on Howard, other than that, the Hawks still do not have an answer for him. What the Hawks could’ve down was trade small forward Marvin Williams in order to pry a quality big man like Samuel Dalembert from the Sacramento Kings. That would have moved center Al Horford to his more comfortable position of power forward and Josh Smith to the small forward position. If Dalembert was not available maybe the Hawks could have used Williams to pry Antawn Jamison from the Cleveland Cavaliers. Jamison is versatile and can play both forward positions. He’d be perfect backing up either Horford and Smith and along with Jamal Crawford and Kirk Hinrich, would have given the Hawks one of the most potent rosters in the East. Unfortunately that did not happen and Atlanta may suffer yet another early and embarrasing exit at the hands of the Magic.

Your only looking at the offensive apporoach to the game.
Jamison for Williams would not be smart at all. Why would you trade your defensive stalwart for a old, slow PF with limited offensive capabilities in Jamison. Jamison at one point in his career played both SF and PF but not anymore because of the speed at that position was too much for him a.k.a he’s getting to old and slow. Yes, Marvin becomes a liability in the offense sometime but his defensive skills and athleticism are where most of his value comes from
