NBA Trade Deadline: Deron Williams Headed To Nets, Devin Harris & Derrick Favors Headed West

Going West! (Photo by Kevin C. Cox/Getty Images)

Looks like you can officially mark Devin Harris' name off of the market. What a trade for the Nets

As first reported by Adrian Wojnarowski on Twitter:

Utah has agreed to trade All-Star point guard Deron Williams to Nets in multi-player package, Yahoo! Sports has learned. Deal is done.

Al Iannazzone has the details:

As the Record first reported, The Nets will send Harris, Favors, 2 No1s to Utah for Williams. Murphy goes to GSW and Gadzuric and Wright.

Hawks shopping Bibby, eye Hinrich

The Atlanta Hawks are working hard to move point guard Mike Bibby(notes), and Washington’s Kirk Hinrich(notes) has emerged as a real target for them. Denver’s Raymond Felton(notes) and Portland’s Andre Miller(notes) also are looming large on the Hawks’ radar, sources say. The Hawks have inquired about the Nets’ Harris, but there are no deal possibilities there, sources said.

The Hawks are trying hard to rid themselves of the three years and $23.2 million left on Marvin Williams’(notes) contract after this season. "For what he makes, it’s a tough sell," said one NBA coach whose team desires a forward who can score the ball.

The Hawks also have explored trying to trade guard Jeff Teague(notes) and swingman Maurice Evans(notes) to the Cleveland Cavaliers for guards Ramon Sessions(notes) and Manny Harris(notes), one source said.

That is very nearly a family run organization and Sloan was part of that family

I am surprised he got moved this fast but not surprised that he got traded especially after it was rumored he wanted to goto the Knicks.

Partially functional, half of me is comfortable. the other half is close to the cliff like Mrs Huckstable
If Tyrone Hill and Sam Cassell had a staring contest, who would win?

Lack of coveted assets

We didn’t have the pieces to offer to make the deal for Deron because of our utter lack of a serviceable PG to include in the deal.

by Evil Dallas on Feb 23, 2011 12:36 PM EST up reply actions

go after Felton

nobody wants Marvin at his price…move somebody else…..Zaza, Mo, Jamal, Teague…..I’m gonna say it……I think we should keep Bibby….don’t kill me….but for what he is he one of the best…a deep shooting pick and roll PG….that works in the playoffs

My suspicion

Is that the Cavs are waiting to maximize what they can get for Sessions. Our offer wasn’t so sweet they had to do it.

I put forth an idea of a three way deal:

Josh Smith to NJ
for
Brook Lopez
Troy Murphy’s expiring contract (before it goes to GSW)
1st round pick

Murphy/Bibby/Evans/2nd round pick to Cleveland (only a second because of the cap savings for Cleveland)
for
Sessions and Antwan Jamison (it’s really a 3 way trade, but if needed exceptions could make it happen as separate deals)

New lineup
Sessions/Teague
Johnson/Crawford/Crawford/Sy
Williams/Wilkins
Horford/Jamison/Powell
Lopez/Pachulia/Collins/Thomas

I would miss Josh, but that lineup fixes a lot of our issues and maintains scoring off the bench with Crawford and Jamison. Also it stays under the luxury tax this year if my math is right.

by Evil Dallas on Feb 23, 2011 12:44 PM EST up reply actions

Hmmm

I would immediately jump on Jersey’s bandwagon. I remember reading everyone on their roster was tradeable with the exception of Lopez though

That dude is talented

So talented that you have to be a complete screw up to not get on the court in New Jersey or Houston. The Hawks don’t need him.

Hard to be a fan

These are the days it is hard to be a Hawks fan,

I don’t want to sit in this sad situation, but what choice do I have I am a fan.

To see a team with so many problems be so completely incactive and not progressive is disgusting. It is becoming increasingly hard to spend money on a product that is so inept.

And last, but not least if Deron Williams is tradeable then Joe Johnson is surerly expendable whether it is trading him or not signing him to a contract many people outside of LEbron James and Kobe could live up to.

If I wasn’t at work I would be crying in my pillow at home.

Keep in mind that the Sessions rumor is still in play

Guys we have probably inquired about a lot of things. Sounded like we wanted to send Bibby to Washington and they weren’t too keen on that. The Wizards bloggers are pretty much squashing the rumor. At this point I think Sessions is probably more likely but Cleveland may take it all the way to the deadline.

@KrisPTHoops

by Kris Willis on Feb 23, 2011 1:38 PM EST up reply actions

The Hinrich rumor

Tells me that they blame all their woes on their defense. However, changing Bibby into Hinrich doesn’t solve that. Jamal Crawford is horrible on D as well and plays such an important role that we’re not escaping that.

I think the main problem is that the team settles for jump shots. Give me Sessions or Brooks, so that we have a jump shot alternative in the starting lineup. Now if we had both Sessions and Hinrich then we’d have a good platoon.

by Evil Dallas on Feb 23, 2011 1:30 PM EST reply actions

The team settling for jumpshots

I can’t help, but think there is just way too many characters in that lockerroom who take the game a little too lightly. And who easily tune out the coach.

The coaches here get no respect and demand non either.

by RealSquawk on Feb 23, 2011 1:47 PM EST up reply actions

Gerald Wallace is being shopped hard

Would it be worthwhile to investigate turning Jamal Crawford’s expiring deal into Gerald Wallace? Crash could possibly change the team’s mentality.

Just heard Bob Knight on Mike and Mike.

He said that your own offense is the most susceptible to problems aka you dont shoot well. Defense is something that isn’t just important . It has to happen and has to be a very high quality that will enable you to win at any level when your offense isnt clicking well. To put together a team that is not good with defense is a team that is going to be in the middle of the pack and resigned to be in the middle of the pack

This will make all you Smoove haters happy

Jason Fleming – 02/23/2011 3:07pm EST-

The Atlanta Hawks are open for business. They want to make a move, have wanted to make a move, but just about everyone on their roster can be had.

Now, that’s not saying they are having a fire sale. Not at all. The Hawks are looking to get better, and if trading a piece one might not normally think they would trade will do that, they are open. Marvin Williams has been shopped for awhile and would they’d like to move him. Mike Bibby is available for a point guard. Jamal Crawford they will discuss, but they have to get value in return equal to what he brings them off the bench – which is a lot.

Al Horford is a Poison Pill Provision player due to signing his early extension, but would likely be off the table anyway. The Hawks also don’t’t seem interested in moving Joe Johnson.

However, in a change from earlier they will listen to offers for Josh Smith. They are not actively looking to move Smith, and any offer better return them a significant piece of talent, but they will at least not hang up the phone until they hear what another team is thinking. They still see Smith as a cornerstone…so to get him the offer would need to be approached in that fashion.

More on this as we hear it…
