Pape Sy
I see no benefit in keeping Stackhouse over Pape Sy. Sy has more potential and the Hawks have already invested some money in him with the buyout last year

i don't think Stackhouse has too much longer with this team either
hawks have to make 2 more cuts before the start of the year. Stackhouse is almost guranteed to be one and i’m guessing Sloan is going to be the second.
in reality though i don’t think Pargo should have ever been signed.

The timing of these cuts really suck
I mean it is like right before Christmas. When NBA said season starts when it does, I am sure they did not think about timing of cuts that teams would have to go through. I understand it is a business, but darn, I hate to tell young men they are out of a paycheck right before Christmas.
Back to Hawks, the cuts announced, are the right moves.
I really don’t want to see Sloan or Ivan the GREAT let go.
Bensen needs to go to D-League. Gain weight and experience.
Stackhouse needs to be retained, not as a player, but in some other capacity.
Keep both point guards, until Captain Kirk is back. At that point, make an evaluation of which point guard (Sloan or Pargo) to let go. But Sloan is young, and if he proves himself till then, we have two future young point guards.
Things are working out very nicely. This morning, I am very very optimistic.
Lol at cutting Keith Benson
Looks like Jerry Stackhouse is making this roster, well hopefully Ivan Johnson plays more minutes than Stack
Wait Pape Sy got cut because he couldnt play the guard position
But Joe Johnson’s backup is named Willie Green? Oh man
I don't Sy the point of this

I like the energy and hustle Sy brought on the court.
But if Ivan Johnson sticks, he can be the guy who brings his hard-hat and lunch pail each game and brings the hustle and energy off the bench and in practices that Wilkins brought last year.
Will making it back to the Eastern Conference Semis give Larry Drew another year at the helm?
For what it’s worth I’m sure Stackhouse gets cut once Green practices with the team. Hawks are close to luxury tax and can ill-afford paying guys who aren’t going to make a significant contribution (Rolle, Sy, etc)

No chance of Benson or Sy being sent to the D-League?

Apparently we cut Sy
Because we signed Willie Green. And Sy didn’t look like a point guard…which is weird. I’ve always seen him as a 2/3, and there’s a chance he’s a better player than Willie Green. This was a weird decision to me. Even weirder is Jerry Stackhouse’s continued presence on this team. I mean, okay, I don’t mind his presence in the huddle because he seems to be a respected leader, but we did actually make an investment in Sy only to cut him. It boggles me.
Braves will be fine. I'm not worried.

I can understand cutting Benson, Rolle, and Wanamaker
Those were all obvious. It’s beyond surprising to learn that 1) Jerry Stackhouse is on the team, 2) Willie Green has a guaranteed contract, and 3) Both were seen as better options than keeping Sy around. So as much as I thought the Hawks were making changes toward reasonable decisions, perhaps I needed to remember who I am dealing with.

Stack is really a SF now
He was actually semi-effective w/ Milwaukee there. He’s a post up guy now. Maybe Stack is just T-Mac insurance? Either way I wasn’t high on Sy when he was drafted and he did little to change my thoughts leading up to today. Sy and Benson will surely go to the D-League and might be back w/ the team later in the year.

We're waiving them, though
Which I think means we’re not retaining their rights in the D-League. So there’s a decent chance, if they return to the NBA, it will not be with us.

I'm happy with the cuts
It’s troubling that the Hawks have admitted that we don’t have the depth to keep a couple of young prospects around who probably won’t help this season. But I’m glad to see the organization actually admit they have made a mistake and cut their loses early, rather than string us along with two players who will wither on the vine and never see legit court time.
