The Original Release:

HAWKS SIGN DAMIEN WILKINS TO 10-DAY CONTRACT

ATLANTA, GA ----- The Atlanta Hawks today signed guard/forward Damien Wilkins to a 10-day contract, according to Executive Vice President/General Manager Rick Sund.

Wilkins has appeared in 13 games off the bench for Atlanta this season, averaging 2.5 ppg, 1.8 rpg, 0.7 spg and 0.6 apg (.464 FG%, .636 FT%) in 13.1 mpg. The University of Georgia product was originally signed by the Hawks on December 3, 2010, and waived on January 5, 2011.

We talked about that this was a likely move especially with Marvin Williams still out of action. AJC writer Ken Sugiura reported that coach Drew would be meeting with Rick Sund today to discuss candidates for 10-day contracts. Not a surprising move and the Hawks can re-evaluate the situation at the end of the ten days.
