Atlanta Hawks second round pick Pape Sy played well this week while helping the Flash go 2-1 with victories over the Idaho Stampede and the Austin Toros.
On Friday, Sy scored a season high 16 points while connecting on 6 of 8 shot attempts against Idaho. Pape went 4-5 from the free throw line while also grabbing two rebounds in the Flash's 101-87 victory. Sy was one of three Flash players with 16 points joining Ronald Dupree and Tony Gaffney. Former Atlanta Hawk Antoine Walker scored 10 points for Idaho while going 4-15 from the field and 1-6 from three point range. Walker was a team worst -27 in +/- stats for the game.
Saturday night the Flash defeated the Austin Toros 113-80. Pape Sy scored 11 points in this one while also grabbing three rebounds. Sy was 3-8 from the field and 5-6 from the free throw line. Former N.C. State forward Brandon Costner led the way for the Flash with 21 points and 10 rebounds.
After scoring in double figures in each of the last four games, Pape Sy is starting to see his percentages creep up. Sy is now averaging 8.2 points and 3.6 rebounds per contest while shooting 39% from the floor and 79% from the free throw line. Sy has been handling the ball better only turning it over one time in his last two games.
The Flash head to Texas to take on the Legends on Wednesday and Friday of this week. They then will head to Austin where they will play the Toros again on Sunday. The Flash are now 12-10 on the season.
