Hawks add tracy mcgrady to help solidify the 3 position

I think the hawks would improve by adding tmac. 1 he still has some gas left in the tank we dont need him to be the number one option not even the 2 either. 2. could help teach the younger guys about the game. T mac goes down as one of the top 75 players ever in the nba. 3 sell some tickets to. 4. give the hawks some deeply needed depth. we could sign him for the vetern minimum also. at least bring him to training camp or something hawks need to take risk like drafting shelden williams.

Sorry...

That was a statement not an analysis: Because he’s not any good anymore and will likely sign with Detroit Rock City.

Well if pistons dont get him signed at least bring him to atlanta to work out and see. We cant get any worst by adding a former star player.

At the minimum...

he may push Marvin for time at the 3 when he’s healthy, and wouldn’t need to do much more than supplant Jamal on nights he’s not the spark we need off the bench. I’d assume his name recognition in ticket and jersey sales would cover the contract, but then he’s not adding muh we don’t already have since he can’t play D. But then, at the minimum, I don’t see the risk, especially we’d add Alade Aminu, Garrett Siler, Charles Garcia, or another potential D League participant with spots 14 or even 15. But if you are counting on him to be anything more than a part time player in a very limited role and minutes, that’s not gonna happen.

I agree

Let’s use what space we have left to get a younger player with a higher ceiling. On a slightly selfish note, I would love to see Garrett Siler get picked up by the Hawks. I went to High School with him, a high school with no athletics what so ever, and played against him in after school intramurals in Augusta. It would be cool to say that at ages 17 and 18 I scored on and blocked a future NBA player.

Over; in an effort to reduce our dependence on foreign oil, MaconDawg will be a consumer of Tennessee Oil (read: Jack Daniel’s) and will require approximately 3.5 barbecue sandwiches to remain spry and ready to cheer on the Dawgs. -hailtogeorgia

I don't think...

It would hurt for the Hawks to take a look at him. Why not? for the vet minimum the there is really no downside.

I looked at his profile and stats from last year. He is only 31. He had 3 games where he scored over 20 points, shot 39% (not bad for a SG) and he will have plenty time to rest at the end of the bench. No objections by me :)

man do you know how much that cat made last year
we cant afforrd him? & dont want him.
26 million last season.

I stand corrected

t-mac took 1.3 million to play this year we should have taken that gamble
i mean damn if they get anything out of him that worth the money….wow
you hey if i had a team I would have signed shaq, iverson, and mcgrady
and only send 4mill damn i would have been gm of the year
cuz everybody i name would come off my bench…lol

He just signed with D, but hypothetically....

I don’t think it would have been a good move. Not that I think T-Mac would hurt the team off the bench, but his skill sets are not needed here. Even in his prime he was never a great defender, which is what we would prefer at the 3. In his prime he was a star scorer. And even if he has recovered and becomes as explosive a scorer as years past, it would be unnecessary. We already have a primary bench scorer; and a young rook to to pick up any slack. T-Mac can help a team, but there really isn’t anything for him to do here.
