Ball Don't Lie Shooting Guard Rankings - Joe Johnson #4
Joe Johnson is ranked number 4 overall in the Shooting Guard Rankings. Interesting that in his Small Forward Rankings that Marvin Williams is ranked 21st with former Hawk Josh Childress weighing in at #22

do you agree with the rankings?
I do to a certain extent but if marv and chillz are so close then chillz has no right to be mad about not starting or being worth his asking price……..

Marv is better than Chillz
Why do people keep saying they prefer Chillz or than they are very close? Do you see Chillz guarding Lebron? Marv is a better defender and shooter. Chillz excels at being a utility player that comes off the bench.
I only said their close because their close in ranking
According to this list. I believe marv is definently better hand chillz

I don't really see them as the same type of player.
they are definately both swing men. But Childress Is really more of a guard, and Marvin is more of a Power Foward.
In a perfect world Childress could play SG, and Marvin could play SF, but unfortunately Joe Johnson isn’t sitting so Chills target has to be Marvin.
I think Dwyer is trolling us here.
I think Marvin could play SG too if he tried/was asked to.
He has the skills.
That's why he started.
Marvin could probably do alright as a guard, but could Childress play PF? On the other hand Childress could play a little point, which Marvin could never do.
But since our frontcourt is theoretically small, a big SF complements the roster better, even though statistically Childress was the better overall player at the time.

120million
wow i hope joe plays well cuase these hater not going to let him live down that 120 mill contract
and how your gonna say brandon roy took a stepp back
in 2009/2010 season and still rank him better then joe
GTFOH…….Joe should be #3 for that reason alone
and if your taking out last year stats how is d-wade better then kobe como son!
Joe is 3rd
The ranking in based on next season. If it were long term, I would give it to Brandon Roy. But for one season, I would have to give it to Joe. Right now, Joe is a slightly better player.
JJ is number 3
Because year in and year out, JJ is there every game of a 82 game season, not to mention, all the pressure that Woody used to put on him to deliver night in and night out. With new regime, hopefully JJ does not have to feel like all the burden is on him. JJ is a Jedi knight of the highest caliber.
Until Brandon Roy can prove he can stay healthy while carrying a team, he is not even in the same class as a starting All star shooting guard. Brandon is NO Jedi knight.
Marvin is head and shoulders above Chilz. A new regime will take advantage of his beautiful shooting form and by using screens, allow him some nice shot selection opportunities, as opposed to being an after thought lingering near the 3 point line. Chilz, is at best a good rebounder and a good defender, and for ever a bench player. IMO, not even close to Marvin.
The sad part
Marvin as the #2 pick in 2005 being only #21 behind such guys as Wilson Chandler is bad, but the truly sad part is that Luol Deng and Andre Igoudala are #8 and #5 respectively on the SF list and were drafted almost immediately after Josh Childress in 2004. Billy Knight sucked a lot of potential joy out of my life.
If Marvin is having a good day, he's better than Chills
If he’s not, he’s a space cadet and Chills gets all the loose balls. Marvin can score better, but if he’s not motivated, he’s absent
Atlanta will win a championship....someday
Lets see what happens with Marvin and a new regime
He is inherently a passive natured guy. And won’t demand the ball. And with Woody, who just never knew offense as he admitted, and would not design plays for any one. So Marvin ends up staying out there on the 3 point line and being forced to make those jumpers. Or if those are not going in, he tries for the energy plays attacking the basket without any idea sometimes what he is doing.
If Drew designs some screen plays for Marvin, I am positive he will start making a solid percentage of his 15 to 20 foot jumpers. To me this is one of the easy improvement areas Hawks can see, and one where we can see if Drew is indeed a different game planning master than Woody or not
