NBA Free Agent List 2010: The Peachtree Hoops Scoreboard (v8)
Yes. You heard it. It's true. The Atlanta Hawks, in their quest to "add pieces" to take advantage of the 124 million dollar investment they made in Joe Johnson, has secured the services of two of the lowest producing players on our list.
Jason Collins and Josh Powell (if the rumors are all true) are heading to Atlanta. Hawks fans can keep their fingers crossed that Royal Ivey is indeed considering a return to where it all started, because the Clippers already tied up Brian Cook to a 2 year deal. Oops, too late.
You've seen the top of the list for almost a month now, do yourself a favor and see who is taking care of business at the bottom. Don't be so elitist.

Dang Clippers!
According to the chart, the Hawks remaining two players of choice were obviously Scalabrine and B. Cook…Why O Why did you deprive the Hawks of getting the worst players on the market?
Excuse me. Did I say worst? I meant the players who obviously were in situations where their greatness and untapped potential could not shine through.
To Mr. The Human Highlight Blog
I took the lazy route and did not actually read your post. I just looked at the chart and jumped to my own conclusions. I guess my laziness would make me an excellent talent evaluator and scout for the Hawks FA search!
So am going to rephrase my above comment to say: Agreed. Rec’d.
Still quite a few left that could fit...
Shaq, obviously if he’s willing to take two years at the MLE. I assume we’d be willing to give the same to Craig Smith, Matt Barnes, Richard Jefferson, perhaps Josh Howard too. Rasho Nesterovic isn’t ideal, but he’s a 7’ C that can help on D and the glass, if he can come cheap he makes sense. Tim Thomas, Louis Amundson, Anthony Tolliver, Josh Boone, Rodney Carney, Sean May, DJ Mbenga, Damien Wilkins, Rasual Butler, Kurt Thomas, Fesenko, Morrison, and Scalabrine all could be decent options as backups at SF, PF, or C.
MLE......
At this point with the current salary on books, would paying out the MLE put you over the cap? I am a novice when it comes to NBA cap rules. If it does, I don’t see the Hawks doing anything more than filling out the ‘wear a suit to the game’ players with the league minimum.

MLE = Mid Level EXEMPTION...
that last word implying exempt from the salary cap. It applies under luxury tax numbers, which is the problem here as ASG doesn’t want to pay that much or a dollar for dollar tax making it essentially a contract twice the size of what you pay the player, but the salary cap isn’t the issue with that. It’s simply ASG’s willingness to pay.

why joe should have taken less $
If joe wasnt so greedy he’d taken about 10mill less and still resign which would have given the hawks room to sign other players i.e shaq without give up marvin
or going over the cap limit
i wanted joe back but not for 123..mil
Joe was greedy
He isn’t the one that asked for $124mil, he simply accepted the offer. Don’t hate the player, hate the game.

where are the ASG's brains?
and where is that awesome F-A-L-E pic?
Atlanta Hawks=the team that drafted big $$$$$$$$$ instead of big men.
I think this one is appropiate...

Check off Kurt Thomas and CJ Watson
Both are headed to the Bulls….

I had Watson...
…but had him signing that 3 year/10M deal back with the Warriors instead of Bulls for some reason…maybe I just wanted to use that different color.
Good call on the Thomas signing…no terms, but have him updated with the Bulls.

And I've seen a report of Craig Smith resigning with the Clippers
remaining options are becomming slimmer. I expect Mario West or Thomas Gardner any day now as the backup SF.

Thank you...
…just looked it up on SB’s Clipper site and, according to the LA Times, the agent for Smith confirms a one year signing with the Clippers.
