Possible ASG Strategy???

I know fellow Hawks fans that things look pretty bad right now. If we sign Shaq now for what he is asking for, then everyone will complain that they overpaid him. Lets say we play the waiting game for a minute. You don't sign Shaq unless you think you can contend right away. How many teams exist now that Shaq is willing to play for and will be contenders next year......?

Exactly. You all don't think Shaq wants to be in the same division to spar against his foes: StanVan, D. Howard and the Miami Heat? What team would he make the biggest impact? If Shaq wanted to go somewhere then why hasn't he signed yet? Even if he signs with a team, who says we can't trade for him later. For that matter, make an in season trade for another big that can slow down D. Howard? My guess is that Sund may be thinking about making a trade during the year like he did with J.Crawfard.

I also want to thank the ASG for NOT signing Brad Miller. Can he stop D. Howard? NO! Is he any better that ZaZa? Not really. I rather have Mbenga from the Lakers on the cheap than brad miller.

We should get Shaq for two years

He very well COULD make The Hawks a contender for the next coulple of years until we find a younger high quality Center via the draft/trade/free agency. I think we would be an NBA elite team with a better post player

Too focused on stopping Dwight Howard.

Hawks fans are entirely too focused on stopping Dwight Howard, and as I have stated many times, it is simply a knee jerk reaction to his performance against the Hawks in the playoffs. What gets ignored is that Orlando’s perimeter players shot 55% from the floor against the Hawks, and the Hawks were a poor perimeter defensive team the entire year. During the season, the Hawks actually did fairly well against Dwight. They held him to a 55% FG%, which was below his season average of 62%. The bottom line is this though. If you try to structure your team with the sole idea of stopping Dwight Howard, then you are going to have a flawed team and will ultimately not stop Dwight Howard anyway. Don’t fall into the same trap that Mike Woodson did when he tried to double team Dwight and didn’t just try to play him straight up with Al Horford. Concentrate on not letting Rashard Lewis and Jameer Nelson beat you.

Josh Smith said it best

We could never decide whether to take away the 3-point shooters or Dwight, and we ended up taking away neither.

I’m paraphrasing.
