NBA Free Agent List 2010: The Peachtree Hoops Scoreboard (Day One)

Follow along throughout the Free Agent season here at Peachtree Hoops, where we'll look at each day of the initial free agent frenzy and track who has signed where (with Color Coding!) as well as provide our own commentary along the way and how it may affect our Atlanta Hawks.

Day One:

First official agreement has come to pass, and it's not Joe Johnson accepting the max deal offered by the Hawks or any of the LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, Dirk Nowitzki, Amare Stoudemire, or Carlos Boozer megadollar players.

It's Drew Gooden, long time THHB fave, going to MIL, per Woj @ Y! Sports, for a reported 5 year, 32 million dollar deal.

Stay tuned for more updates as the day(s) progress.

LAST UPDATE: Woj @ Y! Sports reports Channing Frye re-signing with the Suns (and Steve Nash, more importantly) for 5 years, 30 million dollars.

UPDATE: Y! Sports' Marc Spears reports that Amir Johnson has come to a 5 year, 34 million dollar agreement with the Toronto Raptors.

UPDATE:  ESPN's Mark Stein reporting Memphis close to a 5 year, 80 million dollar deal with Rudy Gay. (update: Now Woj @ Y!Sports says it's done: 5 and 81.6 to Memphis for Gay).

UPDATE: Multiple sources have now confirmed it, but DA had it first on NBA.com: John Salmons for 5 years, 39 million with the Milwaukee Bucks

UPDATE: Chad Ford reports that Darko Milicic is signing for 4 years, 20 million with the Timberwolves.

hmm

Like if jj were signed and traded, would you rather have a swap or more role players? ex. jj for say brandon Roy(pipe dream) vs say jj for Michael beasley and Daniel Gibson and etc.

IF YOU CANT ACCEPT LOSING, YOU CANT WIN.

Good question

I’d rather have multiple contracts (i.e. Role players). If nothing else we could keep what works and move what doesn’t as opposed one large crap shoot.

In most sign and trades

You will never get good value for the free agent. So I would say that the latter option would be the more likely.

Other stuff (sorry for not linking)...

Tyson Chandler opted to stay instead of become a free agent. The Griz didn’t make a qualifying offer to Ronnie Brewer, so he’s unrestricted. Sergio Rodriguez decided to go to Real Madrid earlier this month. The Wizards declined Josh Howard’s team option.

Pretty sure that's all this is...

And there’s trusty google that always works well too. Just search their name plus qualifying offer or team option or whatever.

Good deal...thank you

I checked some of those when I first loaded this on Google News and FanFeedr. Rodriguez I was holding out because there were conflicting reports about his leaving for RM, but I can just add him in. Brewer I couldn’t find any info about that day, and ditto Chandler.

Thanks again for the tips!

Yes

A big board full of pain and misery. Watch as your hope gets color coded to wishful thinking and faded dreams. Does that one say signed by the Hawks? Oh wait, nvm, it’s just JJ….

"You could spend the next fifteen seconds of your life watching a man and a tiger scream together, or you could be an idiot."
Fact.

Would you rather...

6 years, 119 million for Joe or 5 years, 71 million for John Salmons and Drew Gooden?

I still trying to figure out why we'd

max out Joe when Jordan Crawford seems to be JJ Jr. and we could sign someone like Brewer for less and work on our depth.

If we do sign and trade Joe. I’d like to see it w/ orlando for Gortat and JJ Redick
