Hawks Injury Report: None

Magic Injury Report: None

Blogging With the Enemy: Orlando Pinstriped Post

Predicted bane of the Hawks' existence: Nobody. That's right. I said it.

I am a firm believer in standing by what's been predicted, so, since I've been all over the place saying that the Hawks win Game Three since before the series began, I stand by that.

Big day for the ATL. Let's get game three and THEN the Hawks can prove me wrong in Game Four. I am not being proved wrong today.

Let's Go Hawks!

The Hawks need to give the fans and themselves something to hold on today.

An impressive win would get the bitter taste of blow outs and 4th quarter meltdowns out of our mouths for a while. Honestly I’m ready for this series to end but I hate losing at home. Go Hawks!!!

Bet it hit the rim!

by dstdeelite on May 8, 2010 6:07 PM EDT reply actions

The Hawks haven't shown up for this game.

Not closing out on shooters.

Joe not showing up in big games (typical Joe).

Josh losing focus from the tip (classic).

Woodson having no game plan for the team.

Wouldn’t it be nice if we could pay a lot of money to Dwayne Wade and let Joe go. I would also be okay with trading Josh for a legit center. Those are the only ways we would ever have a chance of making far in the playoffs. Josh mentally not showing up for games is just getting tough to watch.

Heck, he even played better

But I can pull 20 examples of laziness/whiny-ness affecting his play. The man stands out at the top of the key on every offensive possession, and there’s not a Magic player even pretending to guard him.

If they could win

Why would they wait to do it until when they know they’re gonna lose the series anyway? Wouldn’t it make more sense to win game 3 instead of game 4 if they were actually capable of winning?

it wouldn't make sense to a magic fan

so i won’t bother explaining it to you.

and i’m trying to be polite here.

has accepted fate and isn't dwelling on it.

We are in NBA hell right now. Too good to be in the lottery, but too hamstrung with contracts and bad pieces to make any team changing moves. The whole Josh Childress thing hurts matters a lot too.

I'm really tired of hearing about Childress too

He’s a glorified hype man who needs a hair cut.

Bet it hit the rim!

by dstdeelite on May 8, 2010 7:46 PM EDT up reply actions

Chils is good

He’s better than Marvin and way better than Mo plus he always played hard while with the Hawks. They definitely miss him although he wouldn’t have been enough to make this a competitive series all by himself.

by redwards95 on May 8, 2010 7:52 PM EDT up reply actions

Not true. Marvin is WAYY better than Childress. I think if given the opportunity

Marvin could really turn into a real nice player. And by opportunity I mean given the chance to score more and/or being more aggressive on offense.

Nah,

I’m just reading about how much you guys don’t like Josh’s play right now. Heck, the Bucks would lose by more if they won the series, so I’m not too upset. By Buck’s standards, this was a great season

Because he never steps up to the podium when he blows in a game.

He only wants to talk when we lose and he has a decent game (in which he will talk about how we aren’t good) and then when we win and he has a decent game. Never when we lose and he sucks it hard.

Nice Quote by Joe Johnson:

“That doesn’t bother me,” he said. “I could care less if they showed up or not.”

He was talking about the FANS. He was referring to the fans booing him in the second half when he continued to miss shots. IMO I think I would care if the fans showed up or not, the fans are the ones who put money in these guys pockets. We invest in a team with money and time and when they stink up the gym and show no effort on their HOME FLOOR, I think it’s right for home team fans boos their team.

spoken truly like a player ready to leave

i’ll pack his bags as well as Woodys! They both need to go!! How can you say that, CARE LESS ABOUT YOUR FANS??? He should be apologizing to us for wasting our money to see him and him not living up to his paychecks we are paying!!! F**K Joe Johnson, i’ll see you all next season b/c there is no way I can watch this dude again in a Hawks uniform!

I have to ask a question..

Dont get me wrong – Im a magic fan.. but I have though throughout the year that the hawks were playing great ball.. I didnt pay that much attention, but – you dont win over 50 games on a fluke. What the hell happened?? The magic are damn good. Their defense was what, 2nd in the league and they also were close to top in offensive efficiency. BUT. Atlanta is a good freaking team. Its like a light switched off during this series. Its honestly – no offense – like watching a college game. The hawks are better than this… The hawks fans deserve better than this. I really hope you guys come out and put up a hell of a fight in the next game. The fans deserve so much more than just seeing guys pack it in or just show up for a cheque.

If you guys had a coach that was worth a S*** and could inspire confidence instead of just stumbling and mumbling – you would be ridiculous. I just feel that the hawks players are just playing with no direction. NONE from the coach. Fire your lazy ass coach… get rid of some lazy ass players with no heart. (smith is talented – but to watch a guy of that skill level flop around like a fish is really hard). You should be damn hard to beat.

WIth the talent you have + one talented big body.. a decent coach… You could probably beat anybody.

I think

you just answered your own question perfectly.

Van Gundy brings intensity and discipline to his team. His players seem and sound mentally prepared. The Hawks were able to get by all season on their talent, but when the pressure of the playoffs comes is when you see what a team is really made off, what their mental composure is.

Woody’s laid back approach to coaching is now being exposed and to some, it’s no surprise. He keeps wanting to hang his hat on the 53 win season. I think he might just be complacent enough to be satisfied with that.

I guess..

But as a fan of basketball – this series sucks. And if I were a fan of the Atlanta Hawks – I would be pissed. Ive been a magic fan through thick and thin.. 20 win seasons searching for an answer.. getting booted out of the first round because tracey mcgrady sucks. So, I know your pain.,. If your coach doesnt get shitcanned tuesday morning – I would be amazingly surprised.

You lost me at Tracy McGrady sucks. He was kinda decent on Orlando winning the scoring title and getting a team full of scrubs to the playoffs.

trust me, we've been pissed all playoffs

For the lackluster performances they’ve been giving all postseason. We all want Woody fired, him and JJ are a cancer to this team!

Shades of '99

Hello, long time lurker, first time poster. I couldn’t help but feel like it was 1999 all over again during this series. I loved that Smitty/Mookie/Mutumbo team but I remember how the Knicks destroyed us in that playoff series, which lead to the disaster of Isaiah Rider and those dark years. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen again…

Also, Joe Johnson, good-bye. I never felt you were a Hawk anyway. I always viewed you as a Merc from day one.

by Alx79 on May 8, 2010 11:00 PM EDT reply actions

Those guys were simply not losing by 20 points.

That was a very good Knicks team, and one thing about those Hawks, you certainly couldn’t fault their effort. They certainly weren’t the most talented offensive team, but those Hawks left it all on the floor.

This is nothing like 1999. Though it didn’t show up during the regular season, that was an extremely talented Knicks team that went to the Finals. We lost to them by 8 points, 7 points, 12 points, and then 13 points. Not 43, 12, and 30. And that team was not as talented as this team. JJ is better than Steve Smith was, there was nobody on that team close to a Josh Smith, Marvin is lightyears more talented than Ty Corbin. Even at center, we had Mutombo, but Al isn’t a big drop off on defense and is a more talented offensive player. That Knicks team had Ewing, Allan Houston, a young Marcus Camby, a young Kurt Thomas, and a surprisingly good Latree Sprewell. You could argue that they’re just as good as this Magic team-they made the playoffs every year, went to the NBA finals once, and the conference finals a couple of others.

That’s comparing big huge stinking apples to tiny, rotten, and probably poisoned apples.
