Blogging With the Enemy: Orlando Pinstriped Post

Predicted bane of the Hawks' existence: The Orlando Magic

Lets see, things to avoid tonight: Mike Woodson having to make decisions, medium to large deficits, one foul benchings, forming game strategies around Gortat, long, contested two point jump shots, not trying, and giving up easy "and 1." To be fair, it is not as bad as it sounds. The Hawks only need to do six out of seven of these to win. Plus, all the normal stuff like rebound and play dense and hope the other team does not play well.

Two pieces of good news though, win or lose we know who is going to get credit or blame: our old friend effort. Whether the just try hard and everything works out has any relevance or factual basis in playoff basketball, it is tough to say, but at least our team is consistent, they have one god and they rarely lose focus. The other piece of good news? I guarentee the Hawks lose by less than 43.

Ok partially guarantee.

But seriously, you only have to win one and as much as that game felt like multiple losses, probably should have counted for multiple losses, it did not. Despite it all, the Hawks are one game away from having control of this series. For real. Now finding hope that truth can become a reality, well, that is where I leave you to fill up the comments. I for one have not stopped rooting for it, just maybe stopped believing (sorry Journey).

Go Hawks!

I have hope the Hawks will lose by less than 30 tonight. Beyond that I’ve got nothing.

Excellent post - Let's keep hope alive, boys are coming home after this

Whether we lose or not, i want us to fight.
I can not stand being passive again, fight darn it, you have fought all year, put up with sh*t all year to get here. It is chance of a lifetime on national TV, no other NBA games on tonight. Focus is on you, fight even if you go down. Here is to Zaza for putting Howard on the floor if he wants to go for a stupid dunk.

Yes i be close to Tennessee’s finest tonight too, can not handle it alone.

Our hope tonight....

Is that everyone who’s a hawk fan find some hope and hang on to it. Being positive for our own team will be the way. We all know what happened last time out…but let us allow our team to use any hope they have to pull out a victory.

Atlanta will win a championship....someday

Sadly or luckily, depending on how the game goes

I will not be watching the game tonight. I’m, going to a premier of Just Wright. It’s basketball related, so there’s that. I am still hoping we win, although I am slightly delusional at times. I’ve not jumped off the bandwagon. Hell if 40 point losses are where we draw the line, none of us would be Hawks fans. Go Hawks.

Hoping---

to not miss Woodson’s availability—-am going to ask him if he realizes that the offense is the culprit in these games against Orlando, not the defense—which has been ok.

I don't drink.

Pity me.

Question: Woody, what happened to the ball movement? Answer: I think our defense was pretty solid tonight. We held them to under 200 points so we did our job on that end.

It's really simple, and I advocated this during one of the regular season matchups

you take Howard out. Whenever you have a chance, take him out. It’s what the Pistons used to do to Jordan. It’s how the NBA used to work. The Hawks are not tough enough to do it, but someone needs to send Dwight sprawling, send a message.

Interesting line-up

We almost never see this: Jamal, Mo, Marvin, Josh, Horford. Might have rolled with it for just a bit longer, but I think we’ll see a change coming out of this time-out.

And that will do it for Atlanta tonight

Marvin should have went up with two f’n hands and slammed it home

by WaveOcean on May 6, 2010 10:41 PM EDT up reply actions

Not really.

The Hawks played really good basketball for 3 & a half quarters. They were also shooting the lights out from three.

Then when the shots stopped falling in the 4th, they stopped playing defense too.

the officiating wasnt bad

orlando was just not playing good defense. when howard was on the bench we couldn’t defend horford if our lives depended on it in the 2nd quarter. starting 6-7 from three point and 28-28 from the freethrow line is why they were in the game.

Too scared of D12.

There only we can get back in this series is attack D12 when we are on offense. He may end up with 8 or 9 blocks but I bet he will be in foul trouble.

Mike still not learning.....

Another series where we are getting killed because of a lack of coaching.

The magic are playing us the exact same the Bucks did…the only difference is the Magic have better role players.

Pathetic. Oddly enough we dominated the magic solidly for 2 qts. Off athletic ability alone.

by Throw on May 6, 2010 11:03 PM EDT reply actions

In my opinion....

The Hawks have a better team than Orlando and when they want to play, they showed they could dominate. Although only for 3 quarters, when they’re mentally in the game, they can beat anyone. It’s the mentality that’s a cancer to this team, especially with J-Smoove. The third quarter was a complete mental meltdown for him. He stopped running in the transition, made exTREMELY careless turnovers, went back to the 25% jumpshot instead of taking it to the rack, and gave up on defense. Woodson should have yanked him out the game and to hit him in the face with the clipboard to wake him up and remind him that THIS IS THE PLAYOFFS FOR CHRIST SAKE, NOT AND1!!!! I could write 10 pages more on this stuff, but well all get the point, so I won’t beat a dead horse. I do, however, believe that we will take both games in Phillips and hopefully get Dwight in foul trouble early. Those fouls that were calle against our big men in the first quarter tonight……C’MON SON!!!
