Hawks co-owner fined for LeBron James Talk
It appears that if you are not the Cleveland Cavaliers then you don't need to be talking about LeBron James.
Hawks Co-Owner Michael Gearon was fined $25,000 for comments that he made about James to the AJC.

Is this really tampering?
It sounded more to me like Gearon was speaking as a fan. “Hey, if I could sign LeBron James, I would! He rocks!”
I really dislike the David Stern crackdowns.
I Agree
They completely took Gearon’s words out of context on this one. Still every other owner/gm out there better take notice.
Steve Kerr got the same fine for saying he would sign him for the mid-level exception
The fact that the Hawks are acknowledging that they’d go into the luxury tax for Lebron is at least a significant fact for Lebron, so I can understand why it’s considered tampering.
This whole thing is ridiculous though, and Stern is literally acting like a baby about the fact that this year’s free agents completely run the league … not Stern.
okay made your point stern
Only you can talk about the self proclaimed king. send him where you wanna like you dreamt you would

it seems that he want LeBron to stay in Cleveland
and he fines anyone who says otherwise
...in dixie land i'll take my stand to root for Atlanta
It's ridiculous to talk about tampering
I reject the premise that speaking publicly has more impact than anything done privately—-and there has to be more that’s discussed privately that impacts free agents than anything Mike Gearon might innocently slip in a local interview.

So that statement is tampering,
But Jay-Z can bro-hug and pound it out with Lebron at Nets games? Come on, Dave Stern…give Hova the fine as well.
Stern is acting like an idiot
It’s obvious he wants LeBron to stay in Cleveland b/c of the Chinese connection there and a chance to expand the NBA global. Either way, I am glad our ownership has expressed a willingness to bring in LeBron. It shows, at least with this statement, that they are willing to spend money to win, but they will do it wisely.
