#2 Pick May Be an Option, Is the Price to rich for our blood?
http://espn.go.com/blog/truehoop/post/_/id/16106/sixers-shopping-no-2-pick
Well the above link explains why I even think this is possible. Furthermore, it has been reported over the net before this article so I think it has atleast a spec of truth to it.
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine
The above link is my proposed offer. It is basically Brand, Meeks, and #2 pick for Jamal, Marvin, Zaza, and our pick. Teague represents our pick in the above link because his salary will be vary similar to our picks, but I am not proposing Teague in trade. The trade would also work if I take away Teague and Meeks, that would leave Brand and #2 pick for Jamal,Marvin, and Zaza but I doubt they would do that because that would leave them with no 1st round pick.
Now that you see that it is totally possible that we could add a guy that could be a superstar 3 to 5 years from now and a big piece to maybe taking the next step this upcoming year or next let's look at the players.
Evan Turner: he is 6'7" with shoes on and could definitely play the 2 and some 3. Joe could move to the 3.
Demarcus Cousins: 6"10.75" with shoes, which measured a half inch better than Dwight Howard and a full inch better than Al. He also has a better wingspan than Howard and Horford, needless to say I think he can play C without a huge problem.
Hassan Whiteside: 6'11.5" with shoes, with a crazy 7"7 wingspan, he is gonna shoot up draft boards, don't know that he is gonna go up this far but he could.
Now the question is would this transaction be too rich for our blood. I am quite sure that the management will paint it so because Brand truly is a bad contract, maybe the worse in the league which is the only reason they are even entertaining offers, but how bad is it to us, a team who is closer to competing on a championship level than the Sixers are?
The 1st year of this deal would work out pretty even for both teams, the 2011 year is where the Hawks would feel the heat of Brands contract when they have to re-sign a guy like Al for 2011 season, but they will have the right to match anyone so they don't have to lose him. On the other hand, Brand will have a expiring contract in 2012, you could probably move it during that summer or year for another piece or just let him leave, so you really have only 1 year where you should feel stuck with the guy and that's 2011. My thoughts are that this could potentially be a great deal.
The bad part is that we pick up a unwanted contract and lose a wanted one with Brand coming here and Crawford going there. We also lose depth and would have to replace it with not so much money. The good part is we would potentially have another rising star while keeping Joe.

well idk
i’d love to have turner or favors but horford and favors wouldnt really work…i dont like cousins
"Your favorite kind of cake can't be birthday cake, that's like saying your favorite kind of cereal if breakfast cereal."- Parks and Recreation
Why
wouldn’t Horford and Favors work? Favors measured the same size as Howard did when he was coming out, 6"10.25, Howard’s wingspan was 7"4.5 and Favors is 7"4. So, on paper saying Al and Favors would not work is kinda like saying physically Dwight and Al would not work and I don’t believe that, people don’t realize how much Dwight is blown out of proportion height wise, he is more strong than tall. On the other hand, I don’t like Favors and Cousins is a physical beast who produces on the court, as for Turner he may be more versatile but I think the team would be better served by moving Al to his natural position than getting another versatile guy, especially one who can’t shoot.
I LOVE Cousins
He is to me a true big man, with room to grow aplenty. That KY team was sick talented (Calipari is stupid good recruiting, and stupid bad winning – lol).
Losing Zaza and Marvin no big loss. Evan Turner??? Well i am showing my anti-big 10 bias show-up, but…… is he really that good? Then again, i used to think D Williams is not good because he played (sigh) for Big 10.
And Brands…. what is the benefit there? is he not always like injured???
Brand
Not really a benefit because he is always injured as you stated but he would be the major reason that Philly is even considering doing the trade and what if he was healthy for say 50+ games and the playoffs, he could help off the bench.

Disagree
The major reason Philly is even considering doing such a trade involving #2 pick is to rid themselves of Brand and maybe they think they can still get a good piece down in the 20’s. It would be a joke, silly, or unrealistic to take for granted that they would laugh at an offer without making it. How many teams can offer an expiring contract where $10.8 mill come off your books at the end of the season while taking a $54 million contract?

If
you asked me before the draft would a team pass up a chance to select Turner, Cousins, or Favors I would say that is silly or unrealistic

Marvin and Zaza certainly aren't good contracts either, so there's no way Philly would bite
Second, there’s no way we take on the huge Brand contract and re-up JJ
But if this were to happen, would we really take Turner instead of a true center? And Josh is no true SF, so it would not be ideal to play Josh, Horford, AND Cousins that just wouldn’t work cuz there would be 5 slow defenders (Joe and Bibby backcourt) on the court and only 2 with ball handling skills

I disagree
Everything is pointing to Teague starting at PG to start with, Horford is not a slow defender at either PF or C and Joe is not slow. So, I don’t see where the 5 slow defenders come from. Next, if you read the post you see that Brands contract would only be bad in the 2nd year, because the contracts equal each other in the 1st year and his contract would be expiring in the 3rd year. You only mention would you see as negative, which are Marvin and Zaza’s contracts but fail to mention the expiring contract of Jamal’s, if it makes you guys feel better just replace Marvin’s 4 years with Bibby’s 2 years and the deal still works. It’s funny, some team will get something done and everybody will gripe about how Philly basically gave away the #2 pick 2 or 3 years from now when Cousins or Turner are already all-stars

How many
ball handlers were on the floor with our starting lineup this year? And please don’t say Marvin because he has never developed that skill either. I could answer that for you but I will not because you might see it as rude.

No
I did not say take Turner, I think I mentioned somewhere in the post that I lean toward’s Cousins because the team needs to move Horford to its natural position and I think that would help more than another versatile guy like Turner. Next, I agree Josh isn’t a true SF but he also isn’t a true PF, you would need to pick up a defensive minded guy to come off bench who could play SF for you also, like a Ronnie Brewer, Travis Outlaw, or Josh Howard type, maybe even a Devin Ebanks in 2nd round just for that purpose
