Three. Seed.
The Hawks have the three seed, courtesy of the Chicago Bulls win over the Boston Celtics.
The Bulls did it by doing a fantastic impression of the Hawks backcourt down the stretch, with Derrick Rose portraying Joe Johnson and Kirk Hinrich channelling Jamal Crawford.
Now, should the Bucks fall down to the #6 seed, the people get the matchup they wanted and could benefit if the Charlotte Bobcats upset the Orlando Magic in the first round (not likely, but still).
Are you happy? Sad? Did you watch the "No Crossover" film on ESPN tonight? So many questions. Let's hear ya.

Why couldn't Charlotte fall to the 8th seed and try to eliminate Cleveland?
Wishful thinking….Go Hawks!!!
Bet it hit the rim!
It's only fair that we get the 3rd seed seeing as how we swept them this season.
Right is right.
Bet it hit the rim!
Hate to admit it...
but even though I would’ve taken the 3 seed in a heartbeat I didn’t agree with the tiebreaker. You can thank the officiating in the game tonight for the 3 seed though. They refused to give Paul or Ray any kind of calls when they drove to the rim until it was too late. Good luck against the Bucks.

which game were you watching?
The bulls deserved the game all the way. Nice job by Sheed scoring own basket, and nice job with your point guard getting totally undressed by Rose
In today's NBA
unless you’re Lebron because of all the stuff he gets away with it’s impossible to guard anyone on the perimeter, especially a faster PG like Rose, because of the no hand checking rules.
And how can one team DESERVE to win when they shoot predominantly jumpers all game and somehow get more calls and FT’s than the team being aggressive to the basket?? I know how, it’s called the NBA wanting Derrick Rose to face Lebron in the playoffs.

That is pretty typical games as far as refs go
Game was in Chicago, right???
It was a relatively well called game. Rose is a superstar, that goes with terriotory of NBA. Most people feel Cs usually get many calls unfairly called for them. Something about their older players reputation.
Rasheed is slow, Perkins has happy feet. And your other inside person Rondo did not have a good night. And do not discount the energy of Noah, who was making Perkins and Rasheed miss. Problem is Cs are just old, and unless KG gets it, more of the same to come.
i did not realize a team does not deserve to win if their outside shooting is better than the other team’s inside players – lol. It is called scoring more points, by using your strengths. Clearly for Bulls, Rose and Kirk and noah are their strengths. Plus i think Pierce made a lot of outside jumpers, he has earned a living on that.
That NUT Heinsohn has turned these Bostopn fans into the whiniest bunch in the league.
Seriously. Watch a Celtics game with him on it. You’ll then know where sexyscottish gets off. Man has lost his marbles.
its called making those jumpers they took all game
that is still in fact the first way to win a basketball game, scoring baskets i think its called…
Thank you--good luck to you all, too
-looks like a wicked hot Heat team pulling in there—the Wade v. Celtics angle will be played to the hilt.

I'm happy about the 3 seed
hopefully we’ll get Milwaukee. The 30 for 30 thing was fantastic. I feel for Ivy even more now.
@cocoqt81
Didn't even know..
…about Iverson and that whole deal. Can’t say I’m surprised about the over-reaction/example made of the situation. Thought the filmmaker did a good job telling the story the only way he could, even though he was white.
The one lady, who I liked in the film, mentioned that she was hesitant about coming on because of the fact that she didn’t think he could tell the story well because he couldn’t understand, which I thought was fair and wise. Glad she did it though.

yeah I didn't know about that situation
until a couple days before espn aired it. My thing is, why is airing it important now? That show made me want to research it now.
Atlanta will win a championship....someday
missed the 30 30 but it's on my radar to watch.
I loved the U of Miami one watched that like 4 times. I remember those teams, but forgot how crazy they were
The Reggie Miller vs The Knicks was great. That was classic NBA a real rivalry…we are getting back there now with the good rivalries Hawks and Celtics and Hawks and Cavs is getting nasty too
Miller Time
I have missed many of the 30 for 30 pieces, but Miller Time was my favorite. I was always a huge Miller fan and it was good to get to see those games again.
"You could spend the next fifteen seconds of your life watching a man and a tiger scream together, or you could be an idiot."
Fact.
Yeah, i'm pumped for the 3 seed. The Heat have the Nets tomorrow night and
the Bucks have the Celtics in Boston. I don’t think the Heat will lose to the Nets and I don’t think the Celts will lose to the Bucks. (unless those teams sit their starters). But playing the Bucks in the first round is gonna be nice. I could see us potentially sweeping or winning in 5.
I also like the Bobcats chances to push the Magic to 6 or 7 games. They’ve played the Magic good all year and they are tough at home.
I also like our chances against the Magic a lot better than our chances against the Cavs in the 2nd round. Even though we were pounded by the Magic a few times this year, we realistically should have split with them. We just totally collapsed when we played them at home the first time.
30 for 30
Yeah, i’m watching it right now. It’s cool.
by BravesFanScout on Apr 13, 2010 11:22 PM EDT reply actions
Realistically should have split?
1-6 against the Magic in last 7. The 6 L’s by an average of 18 pts.
How should they have realistically split?
"Morning yall up early w/ the babies watchn Dora. Seems Lamar can't keep my name out his mouth maby I need 2 put my sons shitty diaper n it"~Matt Barnes
Because we were beatin the Magic pretty bad that first game
and we should have won that game, but we fell apart. So realistically we should have split, because 2 wins and 2 loses means a split. I don’t care how the teams did against each other in past seasons. It’s ridiculous to look at past seasons and compare teams. The magic and Hawks have different players this year so why compare them in past seasons when they didn’t have those players?
Why are you on a Hawks blog? Go worry about your Magic and the Bobcats.
by BravesFanScout on Apr 13, 2010 11:37 PM EDT up reply actions
LOL Worry about the Bobcats?
Is that like worrying about the Hawks?
Point is when you talk Cats and Hawks with regards to the Magic it all comes back to one glaring weakness
Neither can guard Howard. As the games that have already been played can attest.
Why Am I on a Hawks Blog? Because I am a renegade who walks to the beat of his own drum and part of being such a badass renegade is exploring other teams blogs. I am so HARD!
Why do you care? I am sure all respectful posters are welcome.
RIght?

Don't be too confident Renegade
If you look at the 4 games this year, it is not as simple as you are making it seem.
First game in ATL, Hawks were leading, until your three point shooters got hot.
Games 2 and 3 in Orlando, were second of Back to backs for Hawks after emotional wins vs. Celtics.
Last game, well we had control of you all, till last minute heorics by Carter, then Smoove put you all down.
No doubt muscle man causes problems for all. but…
The book on Orlando is now known by all. Play muscleman one on one. stick to the three pointers. Foul muscle man. Yes Orlando can be had. Trust me, and Hawks are playing at high levels now, you all will have a fight on your hand.
You might have forgotten this fact:
Atlanta scored 25 points in the second half of the game on Thanksgiving. Orlando shot 32% from three in that game. (10-31) The margin of victory for the 7 previous games we won against Atlanta was above 15 points. The last game you won against us we played terribly for about 40 of the 48 minutes. Still almost forced overtime.
Why do bring up games that happened in past seasons?
They hold no weight for an arguement. Both teams are different from last years teams. And we should have won that thanksgiving game, you guys know that too. We just let up and let it go. And like ATLpaul said, the two times we played you guys in Orlando this year was on a back-to-back after playing the Celtics. Thank the schedule makers for those two. It’s a different game come playoff time and the Highlight Factory is a tough place to play. If we take one from you guys in Orlando, then i would predict we take the series.
by BravesFanScout on Apr 14, 2010 12:43 AM EDT up reply actions
My comment was about last year
i see i planted the seeds of doubt in you Orlando fans. As BravesFanScout says, if you want to go back like more than one year it is irrelevant, or else, Celtics should be better than most of the league if you go back 2 years.
One thing is for sure, Orlando is built around muscleman. Foul him, frustrate him, and the Orlando is a one dimensional outside shooting team.
Hawks are younger, more athletic, slahing, and when energized can rattle the best of them. Surely you remember the last loss, so do Spurs, Lakers, Utah at Utah. Check Hawks record, and ours losses have been in very tight games.
Yes Orlando is favored, but you all are nervous I can tell, and we are excited. It is all up for Hawks from here.
yes so terribly nervous
15 point average win margin in the 4 games this season, you make us so nervous. You try downplaying a game when you were ahead by 10+ points at halftime and almost lost by 20. You aren’t in our heads whatsoever. Being in the heads of the fans doesn’t change the fact that you have no one who can defend Dwight.
if we are not in your heads whatsoever
then why come here at all? we are proud of what the hawks have achieved so far and we don’t go over to your blog to discuss that.
well said
not much more that can be added. The organic growth of the Hawks, is a model for the rest of NBA, and Orlando is one man army.
ONe Man Army who does not score over 20 pgg?
"Morning yall up early w/ the babies watchn Dora. Seems Lamar can't keep my name out his mouth maby I need 2 put my sons shitty diaper n it"~Matt Barnes
Orlando has one man that is their strategy
That one man is is the muscleman.
Again, please read the previous post. The book is known on Orlando, verse and chapter. Perkins the tough guy from Boston wrote it. Foul muscle man, who can’t hit free throws, push him out, and put him on free throw line. And stick to three point shooters. Do not double muscle man, because he is clueless around the basket unless it is about dunking, which he is an amazing one, unless it is end of game, in which case he can’t touch his friend and Hawk Smoove.
I am always glad to educate long lost renegades
Disagree...
the strategy, and I think it’s a good one, is take muscle man and surround him with perimeter weapons of varying degrees of ability like Lewis, Carter, Nelson, Reddick, etc. It’s worked before—see Shaq with Glen Rice, Kobe, etc.
I am here because I read most team's blogs.
Merely defending my team from dumb claims made by people. “we realistically got a split this season” when you lost that game by 17 points. Games are 48 minutes long, and how you play the first half of a game doesn’t matter if you end up losing the game.
It is also funny that in the post below, ATLpaul says that Orlando is a one man army. We have had 10 people on our roster score above 20 points per game. We have more than one player on our bench who can score the ball. You guys should try it some time.
You miss the point AGAIN
The strategy of Orlando is centered around the one man army. Play the muscle man the right way, those multitudes of outside shooters are as harmless as the last game Orlando played at birdcage.
White choclate, roddick, Brawn (spelling), Lewis are harmless if you stick to them. Carter, is hot and cool, these days usually cold. He sees Smoove, and he will become Fridgidaire.
Feel free to come back and get spanked, sorry I meant educated any time.
I never said we "we realistically got a split this season". I said "we realistically SHOULD
have split this season". Those statements are very different. We collapsed in that first game and we SHOULD have won. And like ATLpaul has said before the two times you guys beat us at your place was after a back-to-back in which we played boston in a tough game the night before.
You must be a little nervous if you have to get on a Hawks blog. Just go worry about those Bobcats and we’ll see what happens if the time comes. I won’t be surprised at the Bobcats push you guys to 6 or 7 games.
by BravesFanScout on Apr 14, 2010 2:45 PM EDT up reply actions
oh a Magic fan ok...
Hey Mark, I won’t lie…I would rather play cleveland that your team. Howard is imposing and then Gortat behind him. I think you guys were better with Hedo, but Howard has improved from last yr. I still think the Hawks can get it to a gm 7 and it will be our shooting againts your interior defense…..I’ll take my chances
I don't know how I feel at this point
Against Orlando, the Hawks had been getting killed up until the last game. Maybe that was important for their mental health, because the problems against Orlando DO appear to be mostly mental. They devolve into a jumpshooting team because they appear afraid of trying to score from inside the stripe, but they never really attack Dwight to force him to defend. They’re basically conceding that aspect of the floor. We aren’t a good enough jumpshooting team, and the Orlando perimeter defense is too solid, for us to stand around firing at the hoop from outside and have any meaningful success. Scoring int he paint is actual a strength of this Hawks’ team.
On the other hand, the Hawks are 1-10 against Cleveland over the past 2 years, counting the playoffs. We’ve done a much better job of staying in games against them, but overall, we’re not winning any of those games, and this season we’ve seen 2 incredible, indescribable fourth quarter meltdowns against them. We’ve played them closer, tighter-in fact, we’ve been in each of the last 5 games against Cleveland at the 4 minute mark. The same can’t be said of Orlando. But we’ve lost so many times against Cleveland.
I’m really torn. I don’t see the Hawks beating either team without some extraordinary luck, but I guess I like our chances better against Orlando. We did kill them in a game very early in 2008-09, and have beaten them more recently.
AS long as comments are respected and names are not called
I don’t see why this can’t be a competitive and nice discussion on the two teams we clearly love. Of course Magic Fans are of the opinion that we can handle the Hawks. Just as the Hawks fans would love to see an Epic Run like the Magic had last year.
On a weird Side note, Whats with Orlando’s SouthEast Opponents? Cats then Hawks.
Lord Willing..

Come on dude just admit you are nervous
if you do, then we leave you all alone. no need to wear your shades.
Just admit it and we let you be part of our party and enjoy yourself. Right now we are all in a good mood and relaxing and chilling with our number 3 seed.
Actually if i were you, i be nervous about them Cats. They have claws. and your short coach does not stand a chance strategically against the master tactician.
Not to mention, the Cats are extra motivated to show their new boss that their investment is well worth it. You may get past them, but it won’t be pain free.
Matt Barnes led seven Magic players in double figures with 18 points, as Orlando, without Vince Carter, pounded Atlanta, 113-81, at Amway Arena.
I am not worried.

Cats I hope serve as the Same Warm up the Sixers did last year
Although the Magic are rolling into the playoffs at 22-5 as opposed to last years Dismal introduction. Of course who would not be nervous. Atlanta Won 50 games. And Injuries keep me sleepless during the next 2 months. Thing is last year Magic Dominated Cavs in regular season and people said it didn’t matter. It clearly did. You can say well the Magic beat the Lakers twice regular season, With a healthy Jameer nelson playing out of his mind. The Cats do worry me, Nothing to lose and Stephen JAX my Fantasy Secret weapon!

Not sure i am following you
so ok you are nervous, but you are not – lol. We are like sixers but we are also like Lakers. You beat Sixers and you lose to Lakers. Whatever, sounds like you are rattled. And frankly i am not interested in Orlando playoff history.
Again you conviently miss the fact of the back to backs when Orlando beat ATL
i get it. like a circular thing. i give you reason and you back to your first point. Fandom without logic is the way i explain your position.
there is a very thin line between defending your team and disrespecting another
that is the problem with crossing over to another team’s blog.
it will be interesting tomorrow night
So i figure Celtics will rest their guys tomorrow night. So Bucks have a chance to win possibly.
Then it is all up to Miami. What does Miami want? Do they want to play Cs, so go for the win against NJ, or if they prefer ATL, then you see very little of D-Wade, and they tank.
I am concerned.
Regardless, great number 3 for Hawks, and starters should get a lot of rest tomorrow night.
I want Miami. If we beat the Bucks who cares. The Heat games will sell better, put the Hawks
on national TV at least 2 games and I think make our team play better. I think the Hawks know the Heat can beat them. I think playing the Bucks will not be as beneficial as everyone thinks.
playing Miami is tough
Even though I believe we win vs. Miami, I did not like what happened last year. We already have proven we can best this team in a series, but it took too much i njury wise out of us, and they will again come at us full force. I rather save that for Orlando.
That series last year
was b-rutal. No game even close until Game 7—-ugly series. The anti-Celtics/Bulls.
by The Human Highlight Blog on Apr 13, 2010 11:44 PM EDT up reply actions
Who cares if the Hawks are on national tv??
It really doesn’t matter who’s watching as long as long as we win.
What If?
The Bucks and Bobcats finish with same record which they could? Does that mean Cats get 6th seed since they beat Bucks 2-1 during season series?
They split the season series 2-2.
Conference record is used, which the Bucks win the tiebreaker there.
Okay thanks
Bucks will not sell out arena. All that said I want the Bucks
by Truthspitter on Apr 14, 2010 12:51 AM EDT up reply actions
we take it in 4 games
but I did want to see Brandon Jennings this year….he and D Rose are the future in the East
the Heat series didn't sellout last year either.
Well at least it didn’t look like it.
by DPhenomenal1 on Apr 14, 2010 12:44 PM EDT up reply actions
I want the Bucks minus Bogat!
The easier the first round, the more rest we get, the better chance we have of getting through Orlando. Im actually hoping its Hawks vs Celtics in the Eastern Finals… although I know its a long shot… How great would it be to knock out Boston?!?!
I'm psyched about the 3 seed, seriously.
But I find it downright eerie that Rasheed scored on his own basket the same day me and a friend were talking about scoring on your own goal. For the life of us, we couldn’t think of ONE player. And now we can. Priceless.
dont forget nate robinson
he did it earlier this year, or at least tried, i cant remember if he actually scored
Lol
There was a huge controversy (If you can call it that) because after the buzzer sounded for the end of the quarter, he hoisted up a shot at his own goal, and it went in. He got chewed out for it, even though the buzzer had clearly already sounded. Apparently things like that are too “risky.”
As a Hawks fan, you take any improvement you can get. Going from 4th last year to 3rd this year is good. I’ll take it. I’m not concerned about who the Hawks play. With home court advantage in round 1, there is no good reason the Hawks shouldn’t win. If they find a way to lose anyway, at least that will give Rick Sund an excuse to hire a real coach.
yay 3rd seed!
now let the feud begin with who this year? From what I remember, Once it was toronto because the tip in shot didnt count making ot and hawks win. Then it was the celtics, then the heat. Bring it on, nothing but improvement and success for ATL, hate on haters.
IF YOU CANT ACCEPT LOSING, YOU CANT WIN.
I'm dreaming of a...
Hawks vs Celtics Eastern Conference Finals! I know it’s a longshot, but I want that so bad.
Why would you dream of that?
We’ll just sweep them in four games, like we did this season. The exact opposite of classic.
Hawks aint ready for that yet
I love the NBA and my Hawks but I would not want to see a Lakers vs Hawks Finals not this year. I do want so badly a CAVS vs LA finals. Ist rd series that will be fun to watch is the LA vs OKC, Celts vs Miami (most likely), Cavs vs Bulls (hope so)
Joy, joy, happy, joy!
Oh happy day! I am ecstatic over the Hawks’ 3rd place seeding. I fell asleep on the Celtics/Bulls game last night and didn’t find out about the seeding until this morning. Well it looked like Boston was gonna win for the parts of the game that I saw. I was quite surprised to find out that they had lost.
Anywho I’m looking forward to fan appreciation night. Go ATL Hawks!
Starters minutes and reserves for tonight
Do not play Jamal.
Play JJ and Bibster and Smoove and Lion 5 minutes each, may be 5 minutes per half.
45 minutes for rookie. And plenty of minutes for Cheeseburger (if he is healthy) and Randolph man. I wish we did not have to play Marv and Mo, but don’t have enough players on that bench.
My Playoff Predictions
Or Rather Hopes
Cavs over Bulls
Bobcats over Magic
Hawks over the Deer
Celtics over Miami
Hawks over Bobcats, Celtics stun Cavs
Hawks over Celtics and go on to win NBA finals, Joe Johnson MVP
I read this post at school this morning
but didn’t log in to comment. I gasped loudly when I read this post. (because I didn’t watch any basketball last night and didn’t know the Celts got beat.) My classmates all stared at me like, “What the heck?” and one actually said, “You like the Hawks???” I ansered “Yes, I do.” Now more than ever.
GO HAWKS!!!!!!!!!!!
The future is the present. Jason Heyward has arrived.
