Hawks Injury Report: Zaza Pachulia is out, which is sad. He always gets up for games against other European centers.
Grizzlies Injury Report: Darrell Arthur is expected to play
Blogging With the Enemy: Straight Outta Vancouver
Predicted bane of the Hawks existence: Zach Randolph
Game Preview:
I remember when I would go to games during the 2007-2008 season and not liking it. I was actually pretty disenchanted blogging about the Hawks going into that Celtics series. You see I had become so used to horribleness. I went to games in 2005 and enjoyed the glimpses of good and laughed at the other 44 minutes. Being that bad for so long was not fun exactly, but it was freeing. Then came playoff contention or at least playoff talk and games mattered. Those dumb Josh Smith shots were not longer comical. Woody's coaching actually mattered. It was a tough adjustment. It needed a series like the Celtics.
I kind of feel that is where Memphis is. They have not made the some quantum jump like the Thunder (although they are going to win more than 37 games), but ineptitude is gone. It is a tough place to be in, and especially amidst the ups and downs of 82 games. I feel bad for Memphis in a way, but because I know know no single game can propel a team out of this limbo, I have no problem with the Hawks totally dismantling this team as it sits in one of the team's low points. So please Hawks, show no mercy. Please Hawks, Memphis now takes advantage of mercy.
Keys to the Game:
- If Marvin Williams can have some semblance of offense, the Grizzlies really have no answer for Joe Johnson. Patience is still needed, but patience should reward.
- Not let Marc Gasol get anything easy. He is going to try really hard. If that effort is not rewarded with easy rebounds and buckets, the Hawks should be alright.
- Someone on the front court counter the bucket getting machine that is Zach Randolph.
Go Hawks!

Yea. Dont take them lightly at all
Good post hawksdawg. Aaah those days of being free and not having chill bumps when the hawks get a lead down to 5…………….how things have changed since then.
Let hunt some bears
We should take this team on, but they are not a pushover. I also read JJ may be having some flu symptoms, not sure if it is true
This is actually going to be a really tough game
Hope the Hawks show up, or else I might end up drinking all the alcohol in the house. And that’s probably not good for my liver.
I worked the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show for Comcast today...
I learned a lot about killing and eating bears.
Zach has that JJ's nack of getting his shot off. If Josh gets a couple of blocks on him early we blow out.
Al will have a tough night on defense but let’s hope for a good offensive night. I still think we win the battle of the guards. Bibby on extremely short leash if needed. Marvin will be fine. one player that will quit shooting if he is missing. Underrated quality.
Not lookin forward to this
Just don’t feel good about our chances tonite
whenever someone else on the hawks jumps beside smoove
They look so out of place

darn zaza
Down a backup center. Atleast allstar break gives him time to recover
by Hawksgirl on Feb 9, 2010 8:30 PM EST via mobile reply actions
The good things is
that with the break coming up, there’s no point in resting guys tonight. Go balls out.
I never heard a coach argue wit a ref so vividly without curse words
Josh and woody have corrupted my vocabulary
by Hawksgirl on Feb 9, 2010 8:36 PM EST via mobile reply actions
well not even bad
But they just have to keep the energy and ball movement and they will be fine
by Hawksgirl on Feb 9, 2010 8:39 PM EST via mobile reply actions

As usual, the Hawks will get buried by the officials all night tonite

The refs really can take you out of a game.
Now that they know they won’t be getting any favors from the refs, they need to just play their game. Grizzlies started out red hot in Atlanta too and we all know how that ended.

marv showing his worth tonight
Not a bad first half
by Hawksgirl on Feb 9, 2010 9:10 PM EST via mobile reply actions
Lucky
Lucky to be this close with this horrible officiating crew. Whoever plays a bit of defense in the 2nd half wins
hoopsstats.com shows a break down by quarter.
Memphis is a great starter, but fade late in the game allowing more points and scoring fewer. Atlanta’s best split is the third quarter.
Now that's how you finish, Smoove!!!!!

Josh smith can, at any time, create or destroy possessions for both teams
Spectacular block followed by foolish pass, great steal followed by jump shot that normally misses.

Question
why did Woody put the starters back in once we had a 16 point lead?
The Jordan Schafer Fan Club.
