Morpheus, neo, Matrix, Smoove, and Tyler Thomas

Morpheus, neo, Matrix and Smoove and Tyler Thomas

Reading comments that Smoove made after the Chicago game, something stood out, “The game has slowed down for me now”.   It reminds me of the movie Matrix and how Morpheus (Woody??) kept telling Neo(Smoove) you have to know who you are and believe in yourself.  Until finally in the subway scene, Neo stops running, starts fighting the agent, and at the end solves the Matrix when things are obvious to him and slowed down.

To me Neo (Smoove??) has finally figured it out.  He has become the ONE.  The game is not about thunderous dunks (beautiful and exciting as they are) or glorious blocks (momentum changing).  It is more about defense, rebounding, and being the brains (QB on a super bowl morning) of the Hawks.  More than anything, the ball needs to go through Neo (Smoove)  for Hawks to reach the destination of winning the east.  Smoove is now getting close to King and Kobe land.  Only a consistent 15-20 footer separating him from that.

It must be an eye opener, to us, to Neo, to Morpheus, to the entire basketball loving world, the changes in the young man that left high school to enter NBA.  He is now believing in himself, and has solved the Matrix.  Thoughts?

One last thing, thinking of Smoove, my heart goes to that young man of the south Tyler Thomas playing for that God awful coach and the Cows.  I just read he is now suspended for conduct detrimental to the team.  He so reminds me of Smoove, the flying, the shot blocking (yep the goal tending calls) of the young smoove.  Except he is being not allowed to fly.  Get him back to the south, get him back to the Hawks.

I definently agree. Not if but when smooth gets that jumper to fall consistently

He will be a force to be reckoned with by every opponent. As for Tyler Thomas, he does remind me of the younger josh not yet fully developed. He is very talented and has to learn how to control that temper and his own moves. He should have stayed down south where we seem to understand his “type.”

no

Smoove also needs a consistent back to basket game, good touch around the rim and more ferocious dunks. The scary thing about smith is that he is still SOOO raw. He just needs a lot of refinement, even on things like running, like if his movements were tighter, then they would be much quicker and more efficient. May be he could get a little stronger, but don’t lose speed or jumping ability. Smoove is strong enough, but he is not STRONG. Like, he is just strong enough to not get bullied around but he is not strong enough to bully people around. Also, i would love for him to be a combo forward. Players with his potential have the ability to be extremely versatile.

I know smooth has a long way to go before becoming a lebron James type of player

He needs to definently get more stronger but I see glimpses of his versatility every single game. whether its on defense or offense. he has to get consistent on both ends of the floor. I still think that jumper would be a weapon for him offensively but everything tied in with a consistent jumper=MVP

what i'm saying is

Yes, he is fine right now where he is, but for the hawks to get to the next level, they need him to get better, especially since JJ might leave the hawks. The fact is that Josh is a good player already, but he still relies too much on his athleticism, which is the scary things about him. He is still raw, but he is fine where he is, if that makes any sense. He doesn’t need to get better if he just wants to be good, but he has the ability to be GREAT. Hopefully next season he will take his game to a whole new level. Hopefully he will see that him and LeBron aren’t that different based on talent, but there is definitely a difference, which will HOPEFULLY bring him to work hard on what he needs to and become a Lamar Odom type of combo forward, but much better.

true

relying on his athleticism wont take him where he needs to go

yeah

He needs to learn how to use his athleticism, with a good 15-18 foot jumper, players will have to close up on him. with good ball handling, he can move faster with the ball, or stop faster with the ball, giving him a lane to lay it up or separation to pull up, but i think he really needs to work on his touch around the basket…. He misses a lot of hook shots and easy lay ups.
